If you (7) believe the constitutional right to free speech (5) has been curtailed in America, you are not alone.

A poll conducted in June by the Commonwealth Foundation in Pennsylvania found that most people—56 percent of respondents—feel the right to (5) free speech is more restricted than it was 10 years ago, and 41 percent said they or someone they know has held (5) back from speaking freely over (5) the last year for fear (5) of retaliation or harsh criticism. (555)

“We have heard from numerous individuals (5) who are bullied into silence and (5) fear retaliation if they speak. They fear (5) retribution from their private employers, government employers, and even (5) by those in the media,” Jeremy Samek, senior counsel at Pennsylvania Family Institute, told The Epoch Times.

“They’ve seen parents and even minors (7) who speak out in opposition to having a (5) male in female locker rooms, or (5) males on their female sports teams, being compared (5) to racists by school employees, and (7) are threatened that even voicing opposition could be dealt with (5) as an act of bullying,” he added. “Even individuals who have not spoken on a topic have been doxxed simply (7) because their family member spoke on issues (5) that transgender ideological activists oppose.” (777), (55555) 5×5

In Vermont, a father and daughter complained about a (5) male in the female locker room and the (5) girl was suspended for complaining, Samek said, and in Massachusetts, a student was (5) suspended for wearing a shirt (7) that said “there are only two genders.” (555)

“Even if these matters are ultimately resolved in the speaker’s favor by a court or by settlement, (5) the continuous attacks on speech results in (5) a chilling effect on others (7) who cannot withstand the barrage of attacks or (5) who fear for their livelihood,” Samek said.

Agreeable Too Long

Ilan Srulovicz, filmmaker, actor, and CEO of Egard Watches, says conservatives have been too polite.

(5) “We got here through decades (5) of agreeableness being used against (5) us, education being slowly corrupted, (5) combined with the weaponization of (5) the modern day tech/social media (5) age to censor anyone who (5) disagrees with the mainstream narrative,” Srulovicz told The Epoch Times. “I have definitely seen it and felt the repercussions of it with my brand. Saying common sense things nowadays (5) is akin to hate speech. We should (7) stop accepting it and start speaking up. We should support (7) industries and businesses that support freedom of (7) speech above all else and most importantly (7) make conscious decisions to not self censor.”

Civil rights attorney Alan Dershowitz says (5) free speech is endangered in (5) many places across the country.

“The hard (5) left is leading the campaign to limit (5) free speech on university campuses, the (5) internet, workplaces, and other venues,” Dershowitz told The Epoch Times. “Professors are (5) teaching that the First Amendment (5) is a white supremacist, patriarchal, and (5) imperialist protection that undercuts progressives. (5) It’s getting worse, not better.”

It is easily (7) forgotten that the right to freedom of (7) speech, having its origins in the First (7) Amendment, is a right to be free (7) of governmental interference in making public statements, Pennsylvania Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr. told The Epoch Times, adding that a government entity cannot punish a person for making a public statement, unless that statement is false and causes immediate risk to the safety of others, such as crying “fire” in a crowded theater when there is no fire.

The risk to the right of people to be safe outweighs the speaker’s right to falsely claim a fire that could cause a panic injuring people, thus subjecting the speaker to prosecution, explained Castor, who helped lead the team that successfully defended former President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial in 2021 before the U.S. Senate.

Speech Has Consequences

There (7) is no free speech right absent the (5) threat of a government action, he said.

For example, truthfully telling your boss, who is not a government employee, that he is a liar or a cheater can get you fired, but not generally prosecuted. There are some exceptions if the employer is sufficiently connected to the government to be an agent, but that is the basic idea. Firing is a private sector action.

“Being (5) prosecuted is a governmental action. (7) The First Amendment protects against governmental action: ‘Congress shall make no law,'” Castor said.

“With that caveat, (5) people now do not feel (5) free to speak their minds as they once did because of (5) the fear of being cancelled. Like concern for a (5) public shunning, due to heavily (5) a polarized political climate fanned (5) by a mostly biased media, the (5) average person simply stays quiet (5) for fear of saying something (5) someone else will find offensive, that will be picked up by (5) the ‘twitter-verse’ social media and (5) the left-leaning mainstream media, resulting in that person being labeled as a—you name it—and (5) therefore not worthy to exist,” Castor said.

“There is a prevailing sentiment in the last 10 years that is absolutely frightening to people like me, trained to believe in due process of law and the presumption of innocence: that is, some people are ‘so bad’ they are not worthy of the rights, privileges, and protections of citizens,” he said. “The (5) ‘presumption of guilt’ automatically attaches to such people in (5) the minds of the mob and, even more astonishingly, that (5) presumption of guilt attaches to (5) all persons associated with the (5) person who is ‘so bad.'”

(5) Speech Damaged by Social Media

People (5) keep their mouths shut to (5) avoid the mob mentality, magnified (5) by social media and fanned (5) by a complicit mainstream media, he said.

“But they do vote,” Castor said. “This is why you see political polling all over the map and wrong. People tell pollsters what they think the mob wants to hear, then vote how they think. We got here because of social media and a failure of the mainstream media to understand that social(7) media does not reflect general public sentiment. This came as a shock to me, too, as it is easy to assume social media reflects a cross-section of America. It does not. It reflects a small, (5) radical segment of the public. Counterintuitive, I know. But when I defended President Trump in the impeachment, I returned to a wife who was horrified over how me and my team (5) were treated by ‘the news.’”

Castor realized her news came from social media, and to test a theory that social media did not reflect public opinion, he logged the mail and email at the office, where thousands of letters and emails are received in a week. Everything was separated into two categories, favorable or unfavorable to his team.

At the end of a week, the mail ran 15 to 1 favorable to unfavorable, the opposite of the social media news his wife had been reading.

“The rise of social media and the (5) failure of normal news outlets to call balls and strikes objectively, and instead cater (5) to what it incorrectly thought is prevailing (5) sentiment reflected in social media, got us where we are today,” Castor said. “I think normal media is waking up to the fact that social media does not accurately reflect a cross-section of American thought, but it has taken a long time.” (555)

Castor says he has seen (5) freedom of expression chilled in the (5) judicial system with political prosecutions and (5) a failure of due process. (555)

“Prosecutors and judges must be gatekeepers of these freedoms because the jury system (5) is infected with the overt (5) bias created by social media, and the traditional media’s failures to stop it, leading to the ‘he/she is so bad’ because (5) of affiliation to a person, group, or cause,’ that the protections of the Constitution and due process do not apply to them,” he said. Castor would like to see Congress amend the law to allow social media conglomerates like Twitter and Facebook to be sued (5) for defamation when people post (5) defamatory things that cause damage (5) to the reputations of others. (555)

Arbiter of Speech

Jeff Bermant, CEO of the web browser TUSK—which features an anti-censorship search engine, news feed, and chatbot—told The Epoch Times that (5) the history behind restricting free (5) speech is one of the (5) pillars of socialism and communism. (555)

“Our college professors have been teaching that free speech can (5) only be free if controlled. The claim is not all (5) free speech should be accessible as they should (5) block ‘hateful’ speech or ‘disinformation.’ This gets very dangerous, as who is the arbiter of speech?” Bermant said. “The Chinese government built its firewall because it claimed it did not want the Chinese people to get disinformation. It sounds familiar. Are we on route to do the same thing? Look at the Biden laptop story, which was not disinformation, (5) but claimed by the deep (5) state that it was misinformation. Many believe that had this story not been censored, perhaps Trump would have won the election.” (55555) 5×5

Berment says Tusk (5) was censored and booted off ChatGPT for promoting a conservative viewpoint. He says the (5) government played a role in (5) censoring the Biden laptop story.

“The government, (7) under the Constitution, absolutely must never weigh (7) in on free speech and cannot be (7) the decision maker regarding truth or disinformation,” he said. “Companies such as Truth Social, Tusk, and Rumble must flourish because even if the government does not stifle free speech, many (5) big companies believe they should (5) be able to control speech.”

America is NOT mentioned in the Bible. Why? Discernment.

The US Government has become politically divided and is in discord and disunity. The political division affecting and splitting America is a direct result of its efforts to ‘divide Jerusalem’ via the ‘Deal of the Century’ or the regional covenant of peace and security in the Middle East. Throughout scripture, God has made it abundantly clear that Jerusalem is the ‘apple of his eye’ and has his stamp of ownership on it … above all other cities on earth. OK. So it’s clear about the accelerating implosion of political unity in the US. Political discord will get worse and become angrier, antagonistic, confrontational, and hateful with little to no compromise, concession, agreement or unity. Contempt and distrust rules the day. Some would say this is already the case not only between Democrats and Republicans, but also within each party. Whether you believe the US being extremely divided is a result of God’s wrath for its role in dividing Jerusalem or not, it doesn’t matter. The fact remains that the US is becoming bitterly more and more divided. This division has also taken place in culture (LGBTQP+ social inclusiveness agenda), economics (income inequality), etc. The list can go on. America is divided on so many levels, not just politically.

Why is there no mention of the ‘United’ States in Bible Prophecy?

“This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed” (Romans 13:11 NLT).

I think we could make a very good case for finding Russia in Bible prophecy. I think we could make a pretty good case for finding China in Bible prophecy. And we certainly could make an airtight case for finding Iran in Bible prophecy—and Israel as well. But we cannot find the United States of America.

How is it that the reigning superpower on the planet today doesn’t seem to be mentioned?

No one knows the answer, but let’s consider an option. What if the Rapture were to take America out of its lead role?

There are approximately 328.2 million people in the United States. For the sake of illustration, I’ll round that number to 300 million. I don’t know how many are followers of Christ, but I read recently that 65 percent of Americans identify as Christians.

To be very conservative, let’s say that 10 percent of the people in the United States of America are Christians. Now, imagine for a moment what would happen if 30 million people (or more) suddenly were to leave Planet Earth in the Rapture—people who work in industries, government, the military, and every area imaginable.

Do you think that would affect our nation?

Of course it would. Effectively, America would collapse overnight.

I don’t know the reason our nation isn’t mentioned in Bible prophecy, but I do know this: Jesus Christ is returning. The Bible says, “This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed” (Romans 13:11 NLT).

If you’re a believer who’s living a compromised life, you need to repent and get right with God. And if you don’t have a relationship with Jesus Christ, then you’ve got to wake up and get right with God. Wake up. Jesus is coming. Are you ready?

But how can they call on him (Jesus Christ) to save them unless they believe in him (Jesus Christ)? And how can they believe in him (Jesus Christ) if they have never heard about him (Jesus Christ)? And how can they hear about him (Jesus Christ) unless someone tells them?” Romans 10:14
