Extreme Flooding

Month’s worth of rain triggers widespread floods across northern and central England. 118 (6+6+6) flood warnings are in place, as well as five (5) severe warnings near Don River. 1,200 (6+6) emergency calls in a 24-hour period. Rescue teams saved over 120 (6+6) people. Five (5) areas affected, Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. More five’s (5) and six’s (6) than I can list here.

Blog note. Jesus indicated that ‘fearful sights’ (various natural disasters) would occur leading up to the time known as the Tribulation and Great Tribulation (a combined seven year period of great destruction on earth). Although these types of things have occurred in the past for centuries and thousands of years, they could be identified as the ‘season of the times’ due to the ferociousness of these events. They would be occurring in greater intensity, severity, frequency, size, duration, scope … just like the pains that a woman experiences in labor the farther along she is in the labor process. We are in the ‘season of the times’ that comes just before the seven (7) year Tribulation/Great Tribulation period

… And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. (Luke 21:11).

… And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; (Luke 21:25)

… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken; (Luke 21:26)

… This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2 Timothy 3:1)

Jesus is giving a series of prophecies about what to look for as the age of grace comes to a close. These verses are several of many such prophecies from throughout the Bible. 2017 was the worst year in recorded history for the intensity, frequency, severity, duration and occurrence of a large number of severe natural disasters worldwide. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, torrential flooding, unprecedented wildfires in unusual places, devastating droughts, excessive/scorching heat setting records everywhere, record snowfalls in Europe and Russia. Snow in the Arabia. This list can go on. Most studied Eschatologists believe these ‘fearful sights’ and massive natural disasters are all part of the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of signs that this Biblical and prophetic age is closing. Most people who study prophecy are familiar with the routine reference(s) made that these things will be like a woman having labor pains, growing in intensity, frequency, size, duration and scope.

Widespread floods hit parts of northern and central England following heavy rains on November 7, 2019. The downpour was reportedly equivalent to a month’s worth of rain, prompting evacuations to hundreds of residents.

According to the Environment Agency, the highest rainfall was recorded in Swineshaw in the district of Peak, with 112 mm (4 inches) in the same period.

“Some places have seen a month’s worth of rain in one day,” Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said.

As of Friday, November 8, the agency reported that 118 flood warnings are in place, as well as five severe warnings near Don River.

Around 30 people who got stranded due to bad weather had to stay overnight in the Meadowhall shopping center in Sheffield.

In South Yorkshire, fire and rescue service said their control operators took around 1,200 emergency calls in a 24-hour period to November 8, mostly from people trapped in vehicles or their homes.

Rescue teams saved over 120 people, including those stranded from a shopping center and nearby retail outlets in Rotherham.

Floods hit the city of Sheffield, where Don River burst after 85 mm (3 inches) of rain.

The Doncaster Council warned people to evacuate their homes on November 8. Previously, floods swept through homes in the nearby village of Whiston when the Whiston Brook burst its banks.

Dearne River also triggered flooding in the Barnsley area, including Darton, Lundwood, and Low Valley.

In Nottinghamshire, a landslide induced by heavy rain occurred in a residential area in Mansfield on November 7. At least 36 (6×6) homes were affected, leading residents to evacuate. No injuries were reported.

There was an increase in water levels of the Ryton River as well. Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said residents from 25 (5×5)  homes were displaced.

In Derbyshire, the district council has declared an emergency after the Derwent River got swollen, resulting in floods that hit Matlock and Matlock Bath.

Heavy rain and flooding are expected to further affect parts of Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire, and Lincolnshire.
