Increasingly Perilous and Dangerous Times, November 2019: Multnomah County, Oregon, Seeing Spike In People Experiencing Chronic Homelessness. The most recent point in time count showed 1,800 (6+6+6) people were chronically homeless, a 36% (6×6) increase from two years ago. 50% (5) reported having a mental illness. 50% (5) reported a substance abuse disorder. A little less 30% (6×5) reported both. 6,000 (6) placed in emergency shelters this fiscal year. US

It is the latest rescue by the Open Arms vessel in the Mediterranean, where more than 1,000 (5+5) migrants on their way from north Africa to Europe are believed have drowned or are missing so far in 2019, according to UN figures. “They looked petrified as they were lifted out of the dinghy.”

Increasingly Perilous and Dangerous Times, November 2019: Italian coast guard: migrant bodies washed ashore or in sea. The bodies of five (5) migrant women, two (2) of them washed ashore, were recovered. Search efforts continued in rough seas near the tiny island of Lampedusa for around another dozen (6+6) people feared missing in the capsizing of a fishing boat. Three (3) of the women’s bodies were retrieved from the sea, where waves as high as three meters (10 5+5 feet) complicated the coast guard search by boat and helicopter.
