666. THE NUMBER OF THE PRINCE, BEAST, ANTICHRIST, MAHDI, 12TH IMAM
WE KNOW THAT VERY SOON, AN ISLAMIC WORLD LEADER KNOWN AS THE MAHDI, 12TH IMAM OR ‘GUIDED ONE’, WILL RISE TO WORLDWIDE POWER WHOM THE BIBLE CALLS THE ANTICHRIST. HIS PRESTIGE AND POLITICAL POWER WILL BE WORLDWIDE, AND HE WILL SEEK TO ESTABLISH A WORLD GOVERNMENT AND RELIGION. ACCORDING TO DANIEL 11:21, HE WILL NOT BE ELECTED TO HIS OFFICE:
Daniel 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, A KING OF FIERCE COUNTENANCE, AND UNDERSTANDING DARK [POLITICAL] SENTENCES, SHALL STAND UP [RISE UP ON THE WORLD’S STAGE].
24 And HIS POWER SHALL BE MIGHTY, BUT NOT BY HIS OWN POWER: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and BY PEACE SHALL DESTROY MANY: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

80% OF VOTERS – INCLUDING SIMILAR SHARES OF DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS – SAID THEY AGREED WITH A STATEMENT THAT “THE COUNTRY IS SPIRALING OUT OF THE CONTROL.”

Mark 3:24-25 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
Luke 12:53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
WE HAVEN’T SEEN A “HISTORIC SURGE” OF CORPORATE BANKRUPTCIES LIKE THIS SINCE THE GREAT RECESSION
July 10, 2024 by Michael Snyder

WE CONTINUE TO GET NUMBERS THAT INDICATE THAT THE U.S. ECONOMY IS STEAMROLLING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION as we approach the most chaotic election season in our history. Needless to say, the performance of the economy is going to play a major role in the outcome of the election, because millions upon millions of Americans are really suffering right now. Homelessness has been growing at the fastest pace ever recorded, hunger and poverty are exploding, and we are in the midst of a cost of living crisis that doesn’t seem to have any end in sight. Unfortunately, there are signs that things will soon get even worse. For example, WE EXPERIENCED A “HISTORIC SURGE” OF CORPORATE BANKRUPTCIES DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THIS YEAR THAT WAS WORSE THAN ANYTHING WE HAVE WITNESSED SINCE THE FIRST HALF OF 2010…
THERE IS A “HISTORIC SURGE” OF CORPORATE BANKRUPTCIES UNDERWAY IN THE U.S., AS DEBT-SADDLED COMPANIES STRUGGLE TO ADJUST TO THE NEW ERA OF HIGH INTEREST RATES.
New figures published by S&P Global Intelligence show that 75 companies filed for bankruptcy in June, the highest number recorded in a single month since early 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. THAT PUSHED THIS YEAR’S TOTAL NUMBER OF BANKRUPTCIES SO FAR TO 346, WHICH IS NOTABLY HIGHER THAN COMPARABLE LEVELS SEEN IN THE PAST 13 YEARS.
Before this, the highest half-year figure recorded was in 2010, with 437 companies filing for bankruptcy from January through June. During the first half of 2010, we were just coming out of the Great Recession. Do you remember how painful things were in those days? Sadly, I believe that what is ahead of us will be even more painful.
The unprecedented measures that our leaders took to prop up the economy worked for a while, but now cracks are starting to show all over the place. And a lot more big businesses will go belly up during the months ahead.

Earlier today, I was quite saddened to learn that Big Lots is on the verge of bankruptcy… Discount retail chain Big Lots said it will close up to 40 stores this year and may declare bankruptcy. The Columbus, Ohio-based company wrote in a quarterly Securities and Exchange Commission filing it expected further operating losses and has “substantial doubt” it can continue as a functioning business.
Big Lots last month reported a net loss of $205 million in the quarter ending May 4, 2024. When I lived in Virginia many years ago, I would shop at Big Lots quite a bit. And it always seemed to be doing fairly well. But now times have changed.
Today, most Americans have very little discretionary income. In fact, surveys have shown that the vast majority of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck at this point…
A 2023 SURVEY CONDUCTED BY PAYROLL.ORG HIGHLIGHTED THAT 78% OF AMERICANS LIVE PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK, a 6% increase from the previous year. In other words, more than three-quarters of Americans struggle to save or invest after paying for their monthly expenses.
Similarly, a 2023 Forbes Advisor survey revealed that nearly 70% OF RESPONDENTS EITHER IDENTIFIED AS LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK (40%) OR—EVEN MORE CONCERNING—REPORTED THAT THEIR INCOME DOESN’T EVEN COVER THEIR STANDARD EXPENSES (29%).
There is no way to spin those numbers in a positive manner. Any way that you look at them, they are absolutely horrible. The middle class is being ripped to shreds, and those that are running the system seem to be all out of answers.
Young adults in particular are having a very difficult time in this environment. According to a survey that was recently conducted by Bank of America, almost half of all adult members of Generation Z “are relying on financial help from their parents and family members”…
A new survey by Bank of America finds that nearly half of adult members of Gen Z are relying on financial help from their parents and family members to get by. The survey for Bank of America’s Better Money Habits team found that 46% of Gen Z are receiving financial assistance from their parents or other family members, a figure that declines to 30% for Gen Z non-students.
Have you noticed that so many young adults seem to be very bitter and very angry these days? This is one of the big reasons why they are in such a foul mood. Many of them were promised that life would be good if the studied hard, went to college, and did all the right things. But now many of them are discovering that the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow was just an illusion.
Of course there is a small sliver of society that is still doing exceptionally well. Flooding the system with trillions upon trillions of dollars has been very good for the financial markets, and those with lots of money in the financial markets have been living the high life.
In Jackson Hole, Wyoming, millionaires are complaining that the town is being ruined by all of the billionaires that are now moving in. Millionaires once accused of ruining a gorgeous town in Wyoming now complain they are being driven out of the area by billionaires. Jackson Hole has long been a popular vacation spot for celebrities including Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes and Matthew McConaughey.
An influx of wealthy people sent house prices sky-rocketing and forced ordinary workers to live on the other side of the mountain on the Idaho-Wyoming border.
There are more billionaires in America today than ever before.
That is the good news.
The bad news is that there are more homeless people in America today than ever before, the ranks of the poor are growing very rapidly, and more Americans are falling out of the middle class with each passing day.
The wealthy may think that all of the wealth that they have piled up will insulate them from the unprecedented chaos that is approaching, but the truth is that a day of reckoning is coming for them too. In the end, the entire system is going to completely and utterly fail, and those that believed that the party would last forever will be bitterly, bitterly disappointed.
WALGREENS WILL CLOSE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF US STORES

By Jordan Valinsky, CNN Updated 7:57 PM EDT, Thu June 27, 2024
New York CNN — Walgreens is set to close a substantial number of its roughly 8,600 locations across the United States as the company looks to reset the struggling pharmaceutical chain’s business.
Video here:
The company didn’t announce a specific number of store closures, but it said Thursday that it is planning “significant” closures of underperforming stores across America as part of a multiyear optimization program.
CEO Tim Wentworth said on a call with analysts Thursday that “changes are imminent” for the roughly 25% of stores that aren’t profitable and Walgreens’ strategic review will “include the closure of a significant portion of these underperforming stores.”
“We are at a point where the current pharmacy model is not sustainable and the challenges in our operating environment require we approach the market differently,” he said.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal Thursday, Wentworth said the closures would focus on locations that aren’t profitable, too close to each other or stores struggling with theft.
Walgreens revealed few additional details about the closures on the call, but said they would take place over the next three years. The company also said it will consider additional closures if performance doesn’t improve. The “vast majority” of employees working at affected stores will be offered jobs elsewhere, Wentworth said.
Walgreens’ (WBA) shares fell 20% to its lowest level in decades. The company also said in its earnings statement that it has slashed its full-year profit outlook.
“We continue to face a difficult operating environment, including persistent pressures on the US consumer and the impact of recent marketplace dynamics which have eroded pharmacy margins,” Wentworth said in a press release. “Our results and outlook reflect these headwinds.”
Inflation has taken a big bite out of the drug store business – both at the front-end and the back-end of pharmacies.
Shoppers are “becoming increasingly selective and price sensitive on their selections,” Wentworth said on the call, adding that he forecasts the “operating environment to remain challenging” in the US and doesn’t “expect an improvement.”
Sales rose 2.6% to $36.4 billion for the quarter. That might not “look unreasonable, but this is running below inflation and, across some segments of the business, represents a loss of market share,” Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData, said in a note.
Particularly concerning for Walgreens was its retail sales falling 4% for the quarter. But that isn’t surprising because it’s front-of-store struggles have been “exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis which has seen customers curtailing the volume of products they buy and shopping around more for the best deals and bargains,” Saunders added.
Walgreens slashed prices on more than 1,000 items in May, following rivals in an effort to lure back inflation-weary shoppers turned off by high prices. But the company said Thursday that would hurt its profitability.
Struggles for drug stores
Major drugstore chains, including CVS (CVS) and Rite Aid, have struggled in recent years because of declining profits from filling prescriptions. They’ve declined because of lower reimbursement rates for prescription drugs and new competition from Amazon.
The front end of drugstores, where they sell snacks and household staples, also face pressure from larger competitors, including Target and dollar stores.
Wentworth said in the call that Walgreens’ store assortment will change and it has removed eight national brands and instead started selling similar items produced by its house brands or “preferred partners.” He didn’t specify which brands that have been eliminated, but said it was within the health and wellness categories.
Although drugstores benefited during the pandemic from people getting Covid-19 vaccines, fewer consumers are visiting stores to shop. Prescription volumes are also falling because people are getting fewer elective procedures.
GLP-1 drugs, which include Ozempic and Mounjaro to treat weight loss and diabetes hasn’t been a boon for the chain. Wentworth told the Journal it’s losing money on filling those prescriptions.
Pivoting the business model hasn’t helped, either. Walgreens will no longer have a majority stake in VillageMD, a primary care network that the chain once had major plans to open full-service doctors’ offices in hundreds of its stores. Walgreens said the value of its ill-fated VillageMD merger has fallen so much, it was forced to take a massive $6 billion writedown on its balance sheet.
In the past few years, CVS has closed about 900 locations and Rite Aid, which entered bankruptcy in October, closed more than 100.

CVS, WALGREENS AND RITE AID ARE CLOSING THOUSANDS OF STORES.
By Nathaniel Meyersohn, CNN Updated 1:49 PM EDT, Tue October 17, 2023
New YorkCNN —
Drugstore chains for decades saturated US cities, suburbs and small towns with new stores.
Now, they are closing thousands of stores, leaving gaps in communities for medicines and essentials. Researchers find pharmacy closures lead to health risks such as older adults failing to take medication.
Rite Aid, the third largest standalone pharmacy chain, filed for bankruptcy Sunday and will reportedly close roughly 400 to 500 of its approximately 2,200 stores.
Rite Aid was undone by competition from larger rivals, its $3.3 billion debt load, and expensive legal battles for its alleged role in fueling the opioid crisis.
It comes amid walkouts by Walgreens pharmacists and technicians around the country and at CVS stores in Kansas City over low pay and understaffed stores.
Drug store struggles
Rite Aid’s bankruptcy reflects long-term struggles in the retail pharmacy industry.
The majority of drugstores’ sales comes from filling prescriptions. But their profits from that segment have declined in recent years because of lower reimbursement rates for prescription drugs.
The front end of drugstores, where they sell snacks and household staples, also face pressure.
CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid are eliminating some locations as they face rising competition for these items from Amazon, big-box stores with pharmacies like Walmart, and Dollar General in rural areas.
Although drugstores benefited during the pandemic from people getting Covid-19 vaccines, fewer consumers visited stores to shop and prescription volumes fell because people were getting fewer elective procedures.
“The pandemic was not a strong time for drugstores,” said David Silverman, a senior director at Fitch Ratings.
Theft has become a problem for drugstores in some locations, and some stores have resorted to locking up products to prevent theft. But this has made the customer experience worse.
“Theft appears to be hitting drug retailers more than other categories,” Silverman said.
Drugstores are trying to pivot into the more lucrative health care industry in recent years and become primary care providers. CVS acquired health insurer Aetna, and Walgreens took a majority stake in primary care network VillageMD.
But this strategy requires fewer brick-and-mortar retail stores.
Pharmacy deserts
Retail pharmacy chains overexpanded in the past, often pushing out local pharmacies in the process.
The number of independent pharmacies decreased by nearly 50% from 1980 to 2022, according to McKinsey.
Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens have also been shuttering stores for years.

Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy Sunday and will likely close hundreds of stores.
CVS, the largest US chain, closed 244 stores between 2018 and 2020. In 2021, it announced plans to close 900 stores by 2024.
Walgreens said in 2019 it would close 200 stores and in June announced an additional 150 store closures.
The loss of a retail pharmacy can leave a void, especially for lower-income households.
Roughly one out of every eight pharmacies closed between 2009 and 2015, which disproportionately affected independent pharmacies and low-income neighborhoods, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
The study found that pharmacies at greatest risk for closures are those with a large customer base on public insurance, which have lower reimbursement rates than private plans, as well as independent pharmacies.
