Pastor Greg Laurie (7) Lists Key Signs of Christ’s Imminent Return

During a July 30th sermon titled Is Jesus Coming Back Again?, Laurie noted that Christ’s return is mentioned over 300 times in the New Testament, about one in every 13 verses. Throughout the Bible, 27-33 percent of prophecies are about Christ’s return, many of which have already occurred.

“We can look in retrospect at prophecies that were once in the future but are now in the past and realize that (7) God predicted those things with 100 percent accuracy. Therefore, we can be safe (7) in concluding that He will fulfill the other (7) prophecies that are yet in our future,” Laurie, the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, said. (777)

Laurie also pointed to several (7) “signs of [the] times” of Jesus’ imminent return, including (7) “the emergence of China as a superpower,” “the lessening (7) of the United States as a superpower,” “the repeated threats (7) against Israel spoken of in the Bible” and “statements from (7) our world leaders about a potential Armageddon” amid the war in Ukraine.

“I would add to (7) this the explosion of technology, especially artificial (7) intelligence, increasing government overreach in our lives, where the (7) government is seeking to gain more and (7) more control of what happens to us.

“I would also add the dramatic increase of (7) drug use decimating American cities, international financial (7) instability, mass shootings, the disintegration of the (7) family, the calculated attacks against the family,” Laurie said. (777)

“The (7) Bible says, ‘In the last days, there (5) will be satanically energized times, and (7) things will go from bad to worse,” he added.

Laurie also encouraged Christians confused about global events in the past 15 years, especially the last three years, as more signs of Jesus’ return.

“Things that are happening right (7) before our eyes, the blatant pushing and (7) promotion of immorality on every single platform, the redefinition of (7) what a man and a woman are, including child gender (7) mutilation, where young children think that they’re transgender (7) and the parents actually encouraging these surgeries,” Laurie said.

“I would add to this (7) the aggressive marketing of this evil on (7) mainstream platforms, including stores and streaming services. It’s just (7) crazy. These are signs of the times,” he asserted.

The Christian Post reported that Laurie also pointed to positive signs of Christ’s return. He cited Acts 2:17, which states that in the last days, God “will (7) pour my spirit out on all flesh. (7) Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, (7) and your young men will see visions.”

“When I came to Christ during the Jesus Movement, I was dreaming the dreams. Now, (7) I’m the old man seeing the visions. But it’s on all (7) flesh, the Holy Spirit being poured out. So many exciting things,” Laurie said.

He listed several recent examples of this outpouring, such as the Asbury University revival in Kentucky and the impact of the Jesus Revolution film, which has resulted in multiple conversions and spontaneous baptisms.

Laurie (7) challenged Christians to ask themselves two questions: “What does this all mean to us?” and “How should we be (7) impacted by this teaching from Scripture that (7) Christ could come back at any time?” (777)

“It should have an impact on us,” he insisted. (7) “It’s a blessing to study Bible prophecy. Some people say, ‘Well, you can’t understand it, and it’s too hard to sort out.’ I beg to differ. It is not (7) God’s desire to conceal but to reveal. And (7) the very word ‘revelation’ means the ‘unveiling.'” (777)

The pastor further stressed (7) that “there’s a blessing attached to the (7) person who studies the book of Revelation, (7) in particular, and Bible prophecy in general.” (777)

Laurie also warned that “people sometimes go to extremes,” particularly those who say when exactly Christ will return. He referred to Matthew 24:36: “But (7) about that day or hour no one (7) knows, not even the angels in heaven, (7) nor the Son, but only the Father.” (777)

“We (7) don’t know the day or the hour.’ I don’t believe in date-setting, but I do believe we’re getting close,” he added. “This is (7) something God wants us to know about. And this is something that as (7) we study it, should impact us personally.” (777)

But how can they call on him (Jesus Christ) to save them unless they believe in him (Jesus Christ)? And how can they believe in him (Jesus Christ) if they have never heard about him (Jesus Christ)? And how can they hear about him (Jesus Christ) unless someone tells them?” Romans 10:14

Jesus Christ’s Offer of Salvation:

The ABCs of Salvation through Jesus Christ (the Lamb)

A. Admit/Acknowledge/Accept that you are sinner. Ask God’s forgiveness and repent of your sins.

. . . “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).

. . . “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10).

. . . “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1:8).

B. Believe Jesus is Lord. Believe that Jesus Christ is who He claimed to be; that He was both fully God and fully man and that we are saved through His death, burial, and resurrection. Put your trust in Him as your only hope of salvation. Become a son or daughter of God by receiving Christ.

. . . “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:15-17). For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

C. Call upon His name, Confess with your heart and with your lips that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.

. . . “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10).

. . . “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (John 1:8-10).

. . . “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (John 2:2).

. . . “In this was manifested the love of god toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.” (1 John 4:9, 14-15).

. . . “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” (Romans 5:8-10).

. . . “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).

. . . “Jesus saith unto them, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6).

. . . “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.” (Romans 1:16).

. . . “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts: 4:12).

. . . “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth for there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:4-6).

. . . “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9).

. . . “But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12).
