Extreme Wildfires Update

Australia fires: Geraldton on ALERT as two huge fires threaten thousands in WA port city. Fires now erupting in WESTERN Australia.

Blog note. Jesus indicated that ‘fearful sights’ (various natural disasters) would occur leading up to the time known as the Tribulation and Great Tribulation (a combined seven year period of great destruction on earth). Although these types of things have occurred in the past for centuries and thousands of years, they could be identified as the ‘season of the times’ due to the ferociousness of these events. They would be occurring in greater intensity, severity, frequency, size, duration, scope … just like the pains that a woman experiences in labor the farther along she is in the labor process. We are in the ‘season of the times’ that comes just before the seven (7) year Tribulation/Great Tribulation period
… And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. (Luke 21:11).
… And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; (Luke 21:25)
… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken; (Luke 21:26)
… This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2 Timothy 3:1)
Jesus is giving a series of prophecies about what to look for as the age of grace comes to a close. These verses are several of many such prophecies from throughout the Bible. 2017 was the worst year in recorded history for the intensity, frequency, severity, duration and occurrence of a large number of severe natural disasters worldwide. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, torrential flooding, unprecedented wildfires in unusual places, devastating droughts, excessive/scorching heat setting records everywhere, record snowfalls in Europe and Russia. Snow in the Arabia. This list can go on. Most studied Eschatologists believe these ‘fearful sights’ and massive natural disasters are all part of the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of signs that this Biblical and prophetic age is closing. Most people who study prophecy are familiar with the routine reference(s) made that these things will be like a woman having labor.

Australia fires: Geraldton on ALERT as two huge fires threaten thousands in WA port city. Fires now erupting in WESTERN Australia.

AUSTRALIA is battling a rash of wildfires currently coursing through New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland, as firefighters struggle to push back countless deadly blazes. Geraldton in Western Australia is now on alert.

Australian fire authorities are attempting to battle a wave of wildfires which have broken out in the country, as drought and dangerously high temperatures persist in the region. The New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) is currently tackling 69 fires in the state, and more than 1000 firefighters are on the ground. Queensland is also on alert, as up to 40 wildfires are active in the region.

Wildfires have now spread into Western Australia, as dangerous conditions have caused two bushfires in the port city of Geraldton, home to 35,000 people.

According to Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn, the two fires appeared 40 minutes apart, and one ignited near a densely populated residential area.

The first tore through the east of Geraldton in Utakarra, and is now contained but not under control.

Authorities have contained the second fire in the northern Glenfield and Drummond Cove area, but residents have been warned to leave as it is not totally under control.

Although Geraldton is under an emergency warning, fire authorities have detected limited damage.

Four homes were damaged as the flames advanced, but none were lost.

Craig Smith, Midwest Gascoyne region Superintendent for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), said the damage was contained to outbuildings.

He said: “We can say that we have not lost any houses, there’s been some damage to some garden sheds and some fencing, but it’s been a good outcome.”

Although damage was limited, Mr Smith said people living in the affected areas should remain vigilant.

The Superintendent blamed the fires on a mix of conditions allowing flames to take hold and travel.

He continued: “On days like we had here, where it’s been hot and windy, and it’s been very dry these fires can travel, they get into the bush and they can travel very fast and they can burn very fiercely.

“So we need the community to make sure they’re certainly aware of those conditions and remain vigilant and be careful of what they’re doing.”

Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said strong winds and high temperatures are to blame for the latest fires.

The Mayor added the conditions were creating a “perfect storm” for a steady onslaught of wildfires.

Mr Van Styn said: “[We are] fighting fires on two fronts in absolutely atrocious conditions for fires of course.

“[It’s] 38 degrees and howling an east-north-easterly — a perfect storm, if you will, for fires.”

For those stuck in the area where both fires ignited, the WA Department of Fire and Emergency Services recommends getting to a room in the house furthest away from the fire front.

They advise people should position themselves so it would be easy to escape if the fire advances.

The safest room would be one with two exits, such as a laundry room or kitchen.

The fire service also advised wearing long sleeves and trousers and sheltering before wildfires arrive, as extreme heat would kill before the flames.
