Blog note.
Jesus indicated that ‘fearful sights’ (various natural disasters) would occur
leading up to the time known as the Tribulation and Great Tribulation (a
combined seven year period of great destruction on earth). Although these types
of things have occurred in the past for centuries and thousands of years, they
could be identified as the ‘season of the times’ due to the ferociousness of
these events. They would be occurring in greater intensity, severity,
frequency, size, duration, scope … just like the pains that a woman experiences
in labor the farther along she is in the labor process. We are in the ‘season
of the times’ that comes just before the seven (7) year Tribulation/Great
Tribulation period
… And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and
pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
(Luke 21:11).
… And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and
upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves
roaring; (Luke 21:25)
… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which
are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken; (Luke 21:26)
… This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2 Timothy
3:1)
Jesus is giving a series of prophecies about what to look for as the age of
grace comes to a close. These verses are several of many such prophecies from
throughout the Bible. 2017 was the worst year in recorded history for the
intensity, frequency, severity, duration and occurrence of a large number of
severe natural disasters worldwide. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes,
typhoons, cyclones, torrential flooding, unprecedented wildfires in unusual
places, devastating droughts, excessive/scorching heat setting records
everywhere, record snowfalls in Europe and Russia. Snow in the Arabia. This
list can go on. Most studied Eschatologists believe these ‘fearful sights’ and
massive natural disasters are all part of the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of signs that this
Biblical and prophetic age is closing. Most people who study prophecy are
familiar with the routine reference(s) made that these things will be like
a woman having labor.
Hurricane warning: US face hurricanes three times more dangerous than 100 years ago. All Five’s (5).
HURRICANES are bigger, stronger and more dangerous than ever, according to a new study. Using a new method of research, scientists have discovered that the most destructive of hurricanes are three times more frequent now than a century ago.

Since 1900, hurricanes on the scale of Katrina or Sandy have become much more common, decimating large coastal areas and destroying human lives. They have become increasingly destructive and devastating, with the worst hurricanes 330 percent more likely to occur than 100 years ago. The new study also warned that as our planet warms, the increase in hurricane frequency is “unequivocal”.
The shocking
results come from a study from the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of
Copenhagen, where researchers have developed a new calculation method of
studying hurricanes.
Instead of the traditional way of
looking at the economic damage caused, the study compared storms by impacted
land area, or the “area of total destruction” (ATD). Using insurance
industry databases, the researchers calculated how much land was destroyed by
the more than 250 (5×5) storms that hit landfall between 1900 and 2018. They
concluded the most damaging hurricanes (where the ATD was more than 500 (5) square
miles) had increased at a rate of 330 percent per century. Moderate storms,
where the ATD was 50 (5) square miles or less, have increased by about 150 (5+5+5)
percent per century.
The study also found that hurricanes were becoming slower, giving more time for
a storm to hammer an area with powerful winds and rain. Business Insider reports that over the last 70 years, the speed of
hurricanes has slowed about ten percent on average. The 2000s was the worst decade for hurricanes and tropical storms,
and scientists are warning that hurricanes will only continue to become slower
and more powerful if greenhouse gas emissions are not curbed. Although
they cannot directly link climate change with individual storms, they say
climate warming overall makes hurricanes more frequent and destructive.
The study says: “Our data reveal an emergent positive trend in damage
which we attribute to a detectable change in extreme storms due to global
warming”. Rising sea temperatures are a key factor in creating more
devastating hurricanes – hurricanes are formed from water evaporating from the
oceans, so the warmer the water the more energy is available. A rise in water
temperatures also leads to rising sea levels, which increases the risk of
flooding during storms.
The study concludes: “In the
short term, we cannot hope to combat storms. “So the risk has to be reduced in other ways:
adapting, and reducing exposure.” Hurricanes are one of the world’s most
destructive natural disasters – according to the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the damage inflicted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 was cost about US$125 (5×5) billion, roughly
one percent of US GDP that year.
Damaging hurricanes are familiar along the US east coast, but in Europe the
weather system is an unusual sight. However, research suggests that this is
likely to change as Earth’s climate warms over the next century.
