Ohio weather latest: Snow emergency hits US – over 55 (5) counties on Level 1 warning. Up to 12 (6+6) inches of snow

Blog note. Jesus indicated that ‘fearful sights’ (various natural disasters) would occur leading up to the time known as the Tribulation and Great Tribulation (a combined seven year period of great destruction on earth). Although these types of things have occurred in the past for centuries and thousands of years, they could be identified as the ‘season of the times’ due to the ferociousness of these events. They would be occurring in greater intensity, severity, frequency, size, duration, scope … just like the pains that a woman experiences in labor the farther along she is in the labor process. We are in the ‘season of the times’ that comes just before the seven (7) year Tribulation/Great Tribulation period
… And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. (Luke 21:11).
… And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; (Luke 21:25)
… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken; (Luke 21:26)
… This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2 Timothy 3:1)
Jesus is giving a series of prophecies about what to look for as the age of grace comes to a close. These verses are several of many such prophecies from throughout the Bible. 2017 was the worst year in recorded history for the intensity, frequency, severity, duration and occurrence of a large number of severe natural disasters worldwide. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, torrential flooding, unprecedented wildfires in unusual places, devastating droughts, excessive/scorching heat setting records everywhere, record snowfalls in Europe and Russia. Snow in the Arabia. This list can go on. Most studied Eschatologists believe these ‘fearful sights’ and massive natural disasters are all part of the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of signs that this Biblical and prophetic age is closing. Most people who study prophecy are familiar with the routine reference(s) made that these things will be like a woman having labor.

Ohio weather latest: Snow emergency hits US – over 55 (5) counties on Level 1 warning. Up to 12 (6+6) inches of snow

OHIO has been hit by the first winter storm of the season, with up to 12 inches of snow expected to fall, and over 55 counties under National Weather Service advisories.

Winter weather has well and truly hit Ohio, with snow emergencies declared and winter weather advisories issued for over 55 counties. In some areas, up to 12 inches of snow is forecast to fall in less than 24 hours.

As of writing, there were over 55 Ohio counties under a winter weather advisory according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

For many counties, lake effect snow is forecast, a common occurrence across the Great Lakes during late autumn and winter.

Lake effect snow is when, according to the NWS, cold air, which often comes from Canada, moves across the open waters of the Great Lakes.

As the cold air passes over the unfrozen and relatively warm waters of the Great Lakes, warmth and moisture are transferred into the lowest portion of the atmosphere.

The air rises, clouds form and grow into a narrow band that produces two to three inches of snow per hour or more.

The NWS winter weather advisories warn travelling may be very difficult, in particular during the busy morning and evening commutes.

As well as snow, north to northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph will drop wind chill temperatures to the teens Fahrenheit or around -10C Tuesday morning.

Colder temperatures are forecast to arrive Wednesday morning with wind chills in around -13C.

The latest forecast from NWS warns to expect two to six (6) inches of snow area-wide by 8am Tuesday (2pm GMT) with a few areas west toward Sandusky and Norwalk getting a bit more.

A few spots in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties, may also measure a bit more than six (6)  inches by sunrise on Tuesday.

The general area-wide snow will transition to Lake Effect Snow Squalls by sunrise Tuesday.

While many areas will only see snow flurries, where snow squalls persist, heavy accumulations of three to six inches can be expected during the day Tuesday.

The NWS warns: “Roads will be increasingly slick tonight through Tuesday morning commute. Plan ahead now.”

Ohio is no stranger to snow, in fact, one snowstorm in recent memory has been dubbed the Great Blizzard of 1978.

This historic winter storm struck the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes regions from Wednesday, January 25 through Friday, January 27, 1978.

It is often referred to as the worst blizzard in US history.

Maximum snowfall peaked at over 50 (5) inches in Muskegon, Michigan and at least 71 people were killed.

Damage totalled $73 million as not only snow fell, but winds gusted to 80mph.

The NWS categorised it as a rare severe blizzard and said it was a ”storm of an unprecedented magnitude”.
