Two people were killed and at least 14 others shot at an off-campus Texas A&M University-Commerce party near Dallas, according to The Dallas Morning News. Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks told the Morning News that in addition to the two dead, two others were injured, but did not give any details regarding other injuries.

“When the shots were fired, it was complete chaos as people fled for safety and deputies attempted to locate the shooter,” Meeks told CNN.

Police are reportedly looking for a single gunman, but have released no details of the person, according to the Morning News, which also reported that 20 of the 750 party attendees have already been questioned about the incident. However, the witnesses are not being helpful, according to CNN.

“It appalls me that, as many folks that were there, (they) have not been able to give us a better description of this shooter,” Meeks told CNN. “Due to the many different descriptions being provided by those in attendance at that party, we unfortunately do not have any solid suspect information to provide at this time.”

Texas A&M-Commerce police were the first to respond to the incident who emphasized that the shooting did not take place on campus.

“There was an event outside Greenville, Texas, that may or not have involved students at this time,” the department posted on Twitter. “Further information will be posted when known.

Ethan Derek Preas, director of campus operations and safety at Texas A&M-Commerce, said in a campus-wide email that the university did not sponsor the event where the shooting took place.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families, and friends of those affected by this morning’s shooting in Greenville,” Texas A&M University-Commerce said in a statement.
