BIANCA DEL RIO will headline Wembley this month on a huge UK arena tour after The Ru Paul’s Drag Race winner became an international star.

Not even Ru Paul has headlined a major arena tour, but Del Rio is about to embark on a ground-breaking journey across the UK in sky-high stilettos. The outrageous performer, real name Roy Haylock, will play 13 cities across England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales in the It’s Jester Joke Tour from September 1-24. The film star, writer, performer, costume designer and comedian has created the most ambitious solo tour ever from a drag performer. Considering Del Rio recently starred in two Hurricane Bianca movies, it’s safe to say the UK won’t know what’s hit it.

Del Rio said: “I’ve been told I’ll be the first drag queen to headline at Wembley Arena! I’m excited…but also concerned that they aren’t prepared for glitter and wig hair clogs in the dressing room sinks! I’m incredibly grateful to perform at this beloved British venue before the retirement home comes knocking for me!”

Retirement hardly seems likely for the 44-year-old phenomenon who won the sixth season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race in 2014.

Five years later and New York magazine just named Del Rio Number One on its list of the ‘100 Most Powerful Drag Queens in America.’ Yes, that really is a thing.

The accolades have rolled in throughout Haylock’s career, based as much on his wicked wit and fearless comedy as his frocks.

Haylock was born in New Orleans and started designing costumes for local productions in his teens and has won six Big Easy Entertainment Awards, awarded by the official New Orleans and Louisana arts council.

He first performed on stage in drag in the show Pageant when he was 21, where he was spotted by a local drag queen and given a platform at the local clubs.

The self-professed ‘Clown in a Gown’ didn’t just know how to sew a hemline and has been keeping audiences in stitches ever since with his own razor-sharp brand of comedy.
