Jesus indicated that ‘fearful sights’ (various natural disasters) would occur leading up to the time known as the Tribulation and Great Tribulation (a combined seven year period of great destruction on earth). Although these types of things have occurred in the past for centuries and thousands of years, they could be identified as the ‘season of the times’ due to the ferociousness of these events. They would be occurring in greater intensity, severity, frequency, size, duration, scope … just like the pains that a woman experiences in labor the farther along she is in the labor process. We are in the ‘season of the times’ that comes just before the seven (7) year Tribulation/Great Tribulation period

… And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. (Luke 21:11).

… And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; (Luke 21:25)

… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken; (Luke 21:26)

… This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2 Timothy 3:1)

Jesus is giving a series of prophecies about what to look for as the age of grace comes to a close. These verses are several of many such prophecies from throughout the Bible. 2017 was the worst year in recorded history for the intensity, frequency, severity, duration and occurrence of a large number of severe natural disasters worldwide. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, torrential flooding, unprecedented wildfires in unusual places, devastating droughts, excessive/scorching heat setting records everywhere, record snowfalls in Europe and Russia. Snow in the Arabia. This list can go on. Most studied Eschatologists believe these ‘fearful sights’ and massive natural disasters are all part of the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of signs that this Biblical and prophetic age is closing. Most people who study prophecy are familiar with the routine reference(s) made that these things will be like a woman having labor pains, growing in intensity, frequency, size and duration.

The hills of one of America’s most spectacular national parks will soon be alive with the sound of mobile phone ring tones, after Grand Teton approved controversial plans for phone coverage inside one of the country’s most treasured national parks.

The biggest expansion of telecoms coverage in the history of the national parks service comes as campaigners battle to maintain peace and serenity in the wilderness across the US.

“It’s a harbinger of what’s to come,” warned Jeff Ruch, Pacific Director for Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER), which has campaigned against the expansion.  

He told The Sunday Telegraph that the Grand Canyon is next, with five mobile phone towers scheduled for approval. Plans are also in the works for Olympic national park in Washington state; Crater Lake in Oregon; Lake Mead in Nevada and Arizona, and southern Utah’s Bryce Canyon, he said.

At Yellowstone national park, the oldest national park in the world just ten miles north of Grand Teton, park managers have recommended a move to block new wireless infrastructure, and reducing or relocating existing ones. Currently mobile phone reception is deliberately limited to the hotel areas, so that the vast majority of the park is reception-free.

Grand Teton, however, chose deliberately not to reduce “spillover” from the nine new towers, meaning that from this time next year much of the park will be fully connected.  

Nine mobile phone towers are to be installed across the 310,000-acre Grand Teton park in Wyoming, where America’s most celebrated landscape photographer Ansel Adams captured stunning images in the 1940s.

At the same time, 63 miles of fibre optic cables will be installed in the park, visited by over three million people a year.

Mr Ruch said: “Even if you don’t have your phone on you, it now means that the person next to you can be streaming music, downloading a movie, or hunting Pokemon. You’re depriving people of the ability to disconnect.”

The national parks service has been without a permanent director since January 2017, when Jonathan Jarvis left the job, having served as director for eight years under Barack Obama. Donald Trump’s administration is yet to push a new appointment through the Senate.

“They are violating their own rules on public consultation, and providing coverage maps,” said Mr Ruch. “We’ve sued them for information. But they shrug it off. This is becoming par for the course.”

Denise Germann, spokesman for the park, said the management were thrilled to increase their connectivity.

At present only two towers sit in the park – one at Jackson Hole airport, and one on top of the aptly-named Signal Mountain.

“I can sit in my office, and sometimes at headquarters the internet service has issues,” she told The Jackson Hole Daily.

“I think our employees are pretty stoked about being able to have better internet and cell service in their personal lives. It’s huge with recruiting and retaining employees.”

Daniel Noon, planning chief for the park, told the paper he was proud of the unprecedented development, finally authorised last month after years on the drawing board.

“We’re the first park to comprehensively look at fibre-optic and cellular infrastructure,” he said.

“Usually in the past, parks have done one proposal at a time.”
