New Zealand rocked by two major quakes in one day. video.

Blog note. Jesus indicated that ‘fearful sights’ (various natural disasters) would occur leading up to the time known as the Tribulation and Great Tribulation (a combined seven year period of great destruction on earth). Although these types of things have occurred in the past for centuries and thousands of years, they could be identified as the ‘season of the times’ due to the ferociousness of these events. They would be occurring in greater intensity, severity, frequency, size, duration, scope … just like the pains that a woman experiences in labor the farther along she is in the labor process. We are in the ‘season of the times’ that comes just before the seven (7) year Tribulation/Great Tribulation period
… And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. (Luke 21:11).
… And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; (Luke 21:25)
… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken; (Luke 21:26)
… This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2 Timothy 3:1)
Jesus is giving a series of prophecies about what to look for as the age of grace comes to a close. These verses are several of many such prophecies from throughout the Bible. 2017 was the worst year in recorded history for the intensity, frequency, severity, duration and occurrence of a large number of severe natural disasters worldwide. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, torrential flooding, unprecedented wildfires in unusual places, devastating droughts, excessive/scorching heat setting records everywhere, record snowfalls in Europe and Russia. Snow in the Arabia. This list can go on. Most studied Eschatologists believe these ‘fearful sights’ and massive natural disasters are all part of the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of signs that this Biblical and prophetic age is closing. Most people who study prophecy are familiar with the routine reference(s) made that these things will be like a woman having labor pains, growing in intensity, frequency, size and duration.

New Zealand rocked by two major quakes in one day

NEW ZEALAND’s South Island has been hit by two earthquakes in 24 hours, both registering over magnitude 4.5.

The first earthquake, registering at magnitude 4.7, struck 11 miles (18km) southwest of Motueka. The second larger quake, registering at magnitude 5.4, hit 50 miles (51km) northwest of Queenstown. The earthquakes occurred less than 24 hours apart.

The 4.7 quake rattled the island at 8.44am local time while the 5.4 was recorded at 10.35pm local time.

More than 6,800 people have said they felt the 5.4 quake, but no injuries or serious damage has been reported.

Initially recorded as a 5.5 magnitude strike, then upgraded to a 6.3, it has since been revised back down.

Aftershocks have been felt since the earthquake, classified as a ‘major’ tremor.

The 5.4 quake struck at a shallow depth of six miles (10km) below the surface, which usually results in a widespread impact zone.

The smaller quake was very deep, 75 miles (120km) below the surface, so was less likely to have an impact.

No tsunami warning has been issued after the quakes.

One social media, users said they felt the effects of the earthquake in Dunedin, which is on the other side of the South Island.

They tweeted: “Just felt the Milford Sound earthquake in Dunedin tonight.

“Slight swaying of the property I’m in. As a Briton here on holiday, I’ve never experienced this before.

“Hope everyone in the Fiordland area is safe.”

Another wrote: “Nothing like a good strong earthquake just when you’re about to head to bed.”

New Zealand is no stranger to earthquakes, forming part of the Pacific ‘Ring of Fire’.

The Ring of Fire is a massive horseshoe-shaped ring encircling the Pacific basin made up of a string of volcanoes and seismic activity.

About 90 percent of all earthquakes occur along the Ring of Fire, which is dotted with 75 percent of all the active volcanoes on earth.

In February 2011, New Zealand was struck by its deadliest quake in modern history.

The tremor registered at magnitude 6.3, and hit just southeast of the centre of heavily-populated Christchurch.

The damage was immense, and 185 people were killed in the destruction.

Of the 185 victims, 115 people died in the six-storey Canterbury Television Building, which collapsed and caught fire in the earthquake.

The buildings that collapsed were known to have been seriously damaged by a magnitude 7.1 quake the previous September.

Between 6,600 and 6,800 people were treated for minor injuries, and Christchurch Hospital alone treated 220 major trauma cases connected to the quake.

A state of local emergency was initially declared by the Mayor of Christchurch, which was superseded when the government declared a state of national emergency, which stayed in force until 30 April 2011.
