Blog note. Jesus indicated
that ‘fearful sights’ (various natural disasters) would occur leading up to the
time known as the Tribulation and Great Tribulation (a combined seven year
period of great destruction on earth). Although these types of things have
occurred in the past for centuries and thousands of years, they could be
identified as the ‘season of the times’ due to the ferociousness of these
events. They would be occurring in greater intensity, severity, frequency,
size, duration, scope … just like the pains that a woman experiences in labor
the farther along she is in the labor process. We are in the ‘season of the
times’ that comes just before the seven (7) year Tribulation/Great Tribulation
period
… And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and
famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be
from heaven. (Luke 21:11).
… And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and
in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea
and the waves roaring; (Luke 21:25)
… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after
those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be
shaken; (Luke 21:26)
… This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall
come. (2 Timothy 3:1)
Jesus is giving a series of prophecies about what to look for
as the age of grace comes to a close. These verses are several of many such
prophecies from throughout the Bible. 2017 was the worst year in recorded
history for the intensity, frequency, severity, duration and occurrence of a
large number of severe natural disasters worldwide. Earthquakes, volcanoes,
hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, torrential flooding, unprecedented wildfires in
unusual places, devastating droughts, excessive/scorching heat setting records
everywhere, record snowfalls in Europe and Russia. Snow in the Arabia. This
list can go on. Most studied Eschatologists believe these ‘fearful sights’ and
massive natural disasters are all part of the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of signs that this
Biblical and prophetic age is closing. Most people who study prophecy are
familiar with the routine reference(s) made that these things will be like
a woman having labor pains, growing in intensity, frequency, size and duration.
IT’S RAINING, IT’S POURING
UK weather forecast: Fortnight’s worth of rain to fall in three hours as hail, floods and thunder hit UK with severe warnings in force
Nicola Stow 30 Jul 2019, 11:33 Updated: 30 Jul 2019, 12:38
A FORTNIGHT’S worth of rain will lash Britain in just three hours today as the country is hit by ferocious thunder and hail storms, the Met Office warns.
A “danger to life warning” has been issued for most of England and Wales today, with weather forecasters predicting serious flooding, blackouts and travel chaos.
After an extremely wet weekend saw flooding hit some areas, millions will have to endure more intense downpours due to the storms today.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms will continue to spread north-east across England and Wales, while also increasing in frequency during the day.
“In a few places there is the potential for 20mm (0.8in) to 30mm (1.2in) of rain to fall in an hour and 30mm (1.2in) to 50mm (2in) of rain to fall in three hours.
“Hail is also possible, mainly over northern England.”
Forecasters say the average rainfall for July in the north west is about 90mm.
East Anglia and the South East are not covered by the warning, which runs until the end of Tuesday.
The area covered by a weather warning for Wednesday includes parts of Scotland, North Wales, north England and the Midlands.
Homes and businesses are at risk of more flooding over the coming days – while lightning strikes could lead to power cuts.
Temperatures will also nosedive to highs around just 18C – a week after the country endured its hottest day ever with a high of 38.7C.
TRAVEL CHAOS
Weather forecasters fear the predicted floods, lightning, hail and strong winds could spark travel chaos.
The Met Office warned train and bus services may be delayed or cancelled, driving conditions will be difficult and roads could be closed due to flooding.
The thunderstorms and heavy rain may also spark blackouts, with fast-flowing floodwater potentially causing danger to life.
FLOOD WARNINGS
In its weather warning, the Met Office said: “There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
“There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life. Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
“Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.”
A separate warning is also in place for the whole of tomorrow, covering parts of Scotland, North Wales, northern England and the Midlands.
The deluge comes as the Met Office yesterday confirmed that last Thursday really was Britain’s hottest day on record.
Cambridge University Botanic Garden measured 38.7C (101.7F), beating the previous UK record of 38.5C (101.3F), set in Kent in 2003.
The new weather warnings follow a weekend of heavy downpours – with half a month’s worth of rain falling across parts of the UK leading to travel disruption and floods.
