Jesus indicated that ‘fearful sights’ (various natural disasters) would occur leading up to the time known as the Tribulation and Great Tribulation (a combined seven year period of great destruction on earth). Although these types of things have occurred in the past for centuries and thousands of years, they could be identified as the ‘season of the times’ due to the ferociousness of these events. They would be occurring in greater intensity, severity, frequency, size, duration, scope … just like the pains that a woman experiences in labor the farther along she is in the labor process. We are in the ‘season of the times’ that comes just before the seven (7) year Tribulation/Great Tribulation period
… And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. (Luke 21:11).
… And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; (Luke 21:25)
… Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken; (Luke 21:26)
… This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2 Timothy 3:1)
Jesus is giving a series of prophecies about what to look for as the age of grace comes to a close. These verses are several of many such prophecies from throughout the Bible. 2017 was the worst year in recorded history for the intensity, frequency, severity, duration and occurrence of a large number of severe natural disasters worldwide. Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, torrential flooding, unprecedented wildfires in unusual places, devastating droughts, excessive/scorching heat setting records everywhere, record snowfalls in Europe and Russia. Snow in the Arabia. This list can go on. Most studied Eschatologists believe these ‘fearful sights’ and massive natural disasters are all part of the ‘CONVERGENCE’ of signs that this Biblical and prophetic age is closing. Most people who study prophecy are familiar with the routine reference(s) made that these things will be like a woman having labor pains, growing in intensity, frequency, size and duration.

Earthquake today: Katla, Etna, Kilauea and Mount St Helens rumble as earthquakes swarm

EARTHQUAKES have caused volcanic activity across the globe over the last 24 hours, near some of the most potentially dangerous sites on the planet.

Volcanoes throughout the world have felt the repercussions of earthquakes over the last 24 hours, as a rash of activity spread to the most distant corners of the globe. The Katla volcano in Iceland, Mount St Helens in Washington state, Kilauea in Hawaii and Etna on Sicily were among those seeing increased activity. Some of these volcanoes saw enough seismic activity to constitute an earthquake ‘swarm’. Monitors with Volcano Discovery documented earthquakes near notable volcanoes with a magnitude of two or higher.

Today’s earthquakes include:

– Clear Lake volcano (California): 17 earthquakes over 23 hours, indicates possible earthquake swarm.

All earthquakes in the area reached a magnitude of 1.1 or lower.

– Katla volcano (Iceland): Six earthquakes under the volcano over 11 hours.

Earthquakes near the area came in at a maximum magnitude of 2.2.

– Kilauea volcano (Hawaii): Two earthquakes under the volcano over three hours.

Both earthquakes came in at a magnitude of 2.6

– Silver Lake volcano (California): Two earthquakes at the volcano over an eight hour period.

Experts recorded one 0.8 magnitude earthquake and one 2.3 magnitude earthquake.

– Mount Sinabung (Sumatra, Indonesia): One magnitude 2.6 earthquake, possibly of volcanic origin.

– White Island volcano (New Zealand): One magnitude 2.4 earthquake which is possibly volcanic in origin.

Earthquake activity recently increased at Yellowstone National Park, the site of one of the world’s largest volcanoes, with 83 earthquakes in one day last week.

According to experts, the increased activity, or evidence of an earthquake swarm can signify gases and magma are moving beneath the surface.

Scott Burns, Geology Professor at Portland State University, said magma is starting to move underneath the volcano.

He said: “If you get swarms under a working volcano, the working hypothesis is that magma is moving up underneath there.”

However, this is no cause for concern, as earthquake swarms are a part of the usual activity at Yellowstone.

Jamie Farrell at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City said: “Earthquake swarms are fairly common in Yellowstone. There is no indication that this swarm is related to magma moving through the shallow crust.”

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has also warned south-east Asia should prepare for the ‘big one’.

The institute urged the public to take part in drills preparing for a possible destructive earthquake.

They said: “Any active faults that have not generated historical surface-rupturing events have higher potential to generate a large earthquake also known as ‘The Big One’ which can significantly affect different areas in the Philippines”.

“Hence, everyone should be preparing for it.”

Another famous volcano blew its top yesterday in Italy.

The Stromboli volcano erupted yesterday on the island of Lipari, ejecting ash into the atmosphere and killing one person. 

Michela Favorito, who works in a hotel on the island, described the eruption as it took place. 

She said: “We saw the explosion from the hotel. There was a loud roar.

“We plugged our ears and after this a cloud of ash swept over us. The whole sky is full of ash, a fairly large cloud,” she said.
