Deceptive Technology Update

World in DEEP FAKE crisis: Human race ‘will not be able to trust ANY video footage’

Blog note. Revelation 13:14 … And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. (Emphasis added). Will those alive during the Tribulation know the difference between the ‘real’ antichrist or the image of the antichrist? Are peoples in rural Asia, Africa, South America, Central America and elsewhere in the world aware of these types of technologies? Do they know and understand how these technologies work? Could ‘someone’ (antichrist/false prophet) use these technologies to ‘deceive them that live on the earth by the means of how the false miracles occur’? I’m deadly serious about this! End of note.

World in DEEP FAKE crisis: Human race ‘will not be able to trust ANY video footage’

Ultra-realistic “deep fakes”, videos which have been digitally altered to look as if they show something else, are becoming so sophisticated, even the scientists studying how to stop them are struggling to keep up. Deep fakes are computer-generated videos which show real people saying and doing things they never did.

Daily Star Online spoke to Dr Siwei Lyu, Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Albany in the States. Dr Lyu built a program to detect deep fakes and was able to spot one fundament flaw the fraud videos had. In the fake videos, the characters didn’t blink.

But Dr Lyu warns the technology is advancing at an unstoppable speed, and fraudsters have been able to get over the blinking issue. The research on generating images completely from AI algorithms has advanced massively in recent years,” Dr Lyu explained.

Websites such as FakeApp give anyone the opportunity to create a doctored video.

“Tools like FakeApp has enabled access of such technologies to the ordinary user,” Dr Lyu added. Such technology also allows fake videos to be mass-produced for propaganda purposes. And the professor warned we are soon reaching a crisis point where no videos which we see can be trusted.

“The crisis, in my opinion, will come in two forms,” he explained “First the fake videos will become more realistic and will make the line between reality and faked reality blurred.

“Second is a by-product of plausible deniability that any media, even real, can be claimed as fake.”

Dr Lyu went on: “The most horrifying scenario will be that we cannot trust anything we see or hear online.” Comparing the fight against the deep fake makers to a chess game, Dr Lyu said: “We find a way to detect them, and they find a way to get around the detection”.

Earlier this year, there were warnings deep fake technology could be used to create fake pornographic films of people, by superimposing their head onto someone else’s body. These could then be used to blackmail people or destroy their public image in a revenge porn-style attack. This is just the latest shocking breakthrough in artificial intelligence which could blur the line between what is real and what is fake.

Recently, it was announced AI will be used to create realistic 3D videos of dead people in eerie footage which will “bring the dead back to life”.
