Number ten (10) is used to represent or describe God’s allness or physical completeness of things on earth. It describes an allotment of full completion on or of the earth. Ten (10) is also a doubling of satanic influence on earth (2×5=10). Ten (10) days of Satan’s persecution of Christians. Ten (10) verses describing satanic influence behind spiritual fornication. Ten (10) kings who provide the politial and military backbone of the beast’s power base / empire. Ten (10) wraths that are poured out on earth, which supports evil mankind’s ability to survive. Ten (10) wraths that are directly poured out onto evil men directly. All these references occur to things directly on earth. God completes his wrath both to the earth and to evil men; In Revelation 16:17, the final three words in this verse are “It is done.” “And the seventh angel poured out his vial (last of the seven, final plagues) into the air; and there came a great voice out the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.” (Emphasis added). God is declaring that his wrath on earth and evil mankind is all done or completed in full.

Ten-fold Days of Christian Persecution:
… “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” (Rev. 2:10). (Emphasis added).
Commentary: This verse is a direct saying by Christ to one of the seven churches (Smyrna) in Asia-Minor. He is indicating that some of the christian members of this church would be afflicted (suffer) or be persecuted by being thrown into prison for 10 (ten) days. Christ indicates that this suffering or affliction comes at the hands of the devil or Satan who is trying or testing them for their faithfulness to Christ. Jesus finishes his statement to the Christians in Smyrna saying that if they remain faithful to him, during these 10 (ten) days of tribulation, even if they are killed, he will give them a crown of life. 10 (ten) is a doubling of Satan’s evil number of 5 (five), (5×2=10). In the context of God’s divine mathematics, their suffering represents their ability and faithfulness (even unto death) to withstand a double portion of Satanic evil or persecution. Even when Satan gives these Christians a double-dose of his evil, they overcome his evil and remain faithful to Jesus Christ.
Ten-fold References to Worship (Spiritual) Fornication:
- … ”But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who traught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.” (Rev. 2:14). (Emphasis added).
- … “Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.” (Rev. 2:20). (Emphasis added).
- … “And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.” (Rev. 2:21). (Emphasis added).
- … “Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, not of their fornication, nor of their thefts.” (Rev. 9:21). (Emphasis added).
- … “And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” (Rev. 14:8). (Emphasis added).
- … “With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” (Rev.17:2). (Emphasis added).
- … “And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication.” (Rev. 17:4). (Emphasis added).
- … “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” (Rev. 18:3). (Emphasis added).
- … “And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning.” (Rev. 18:9). (Emphasis added).
- … “For true and righteous are his judgements: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.” (Rev. 19:2). (Emphasis added).
Commentary: Ten (10) also denotes a doubling of Satan’s evil influence (5X2=10). In a previous commentary, I went into great length as to what constitutes spiritual fornication. At its core, it involves worshipping anything and everything else, other than Jesus Christ and God. It is any false religious, man-made doctrine that relies on something else (other than Christ) at its foundation. It leads and deceives people away from understanding the true gospel of Jesus Christ, that of His forgiveness of our sins through the shedding of his blood and resurrection. Through the Holy Sprit, God declares that through these ten (10) verses, spiritual fornication is at its fullest and most evil consumation during the Tribulation and Great Tribulation period. Spiritual fornication does not come on earth in any greater degree than during this period. If it were not for God’s two supernatural witnesses proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, or for the special angel flying through the earth proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, or for the witnessing of the Tribulation Saints prior to their martyrdom … the gospel of Jesus Christ would be gone from the earth during the Tribulation and Great Tribulation period. Mankind is totally given over to worshipping everything false and evil and want’s absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ, God or the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. Christians, pastors, teachers and true churches are gone as a result of the rapture/harpazo. No one is left to proclaim Christ’s gift of salvation, except the three entities just mentioned.
Ten (10) Evil Horns/Crowns (Kings) of the Beast’s Empire:
- … “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.” (Rev. 12:3). (Emphasis added).
- … “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.” (Rev. 13:1). (Emphasis added).
- … “So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.” (Rev. 17:3). (Emphasis added).
- … “And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman and beast that carrieth her, which hat the seven heads and ten horns.” (Rev. 17:7). (Emphasis added).
- … “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power of kings one hour with the beast.” (Rev. 17:12). (Emphasis added).
- … “And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.” (Rev. 17:16). (Emphasis added).
Commentary: These 6 (six) verses describe the political and military backbone of the beast’s evil empire. The 10 (ten) kings are a consortium of political leaders that collectively give up their political and military sovereignty to the beast/antichrist. In exchange, he grants them “power as a king.” It is commonly believed that these ten political leaders who will be given “power as kings for one hour” will come from what is currently represented as the European Union (UE). The above reference in verse 17:12-14 indicates that these ten (10) political leaders act in a collective unison (with one mind), and give up their political and military might (power and strength) to the beast (based upon the will of God). This verse also continues on to indicate that these kings “for one hour” are active military participants against Jesus Christ on the Lord’s Day at the battle of Armageddon. Two verses reference the influence that these ten (10) kings have on Mystery Religion Babylon. Verse 17:7 indicates that these kings act in collective unison and purpose in supporting (and enforcing) the worldwide acceptance of the whore, Mystery Religion Babylon. They are the ‘muscle of the means’ or the part of the beast that supports (carries) the domination of the mystery religion worldwide. The last reference, verses 17:16-17, indicate that midway through the Tribulation, these ten (10) kings turn on and destroy the whore, the Mystery Religion of Babylon. Why would these 10 (ten) kings, who have worked for 3 ½ years to build up and support the whore, the worldwide mystery religion system, suddenly turn on her to “make her desolate and naked and shall eat her flesh and burn her with fire?”
The answer lies in the religious or spiritual ‘bait-n-switch’ that Satan pulls off on evil mankind. At the beginning of the Tribulation, to gain easy acceptance and domination over the world’s peoples, Satan allows them to worship anything and everything (but God and Jesus Christ) and to also enforce his worship through the beast/antichrist and false prophet. The worship of anything and everything (but God and Jesus Christ) is known as Mystery Religion Babylon, which also includes Satanic worship. Halfway (3 ½ years) into the Tribulation, Satan physically indwells the beast and commits the “Abomination of Desolation” in the rebuilt Jewish Temple. The satanically indwelt beast places himself in the holiest part of the rebuilt temple and declares himself to be God and demands to be worshipped directly as such, under the pain of death and beheading of not doing so. As a result, men who have taken the mark of the beast and perhaps have been worshipping idols of gold or silver, have no choice but to give up their mystery religion and are forced to worship Satan/beast exclusively. Most of those deceived men who have already been worshipping the beast and his image will have no problem in continuing to worship the satanically indwelt beast. Their worship will just be more of the same, except that Satan is now the direct object or recipient of their worship. Conversely, those men who were actively participating in the mystery religion of worshipping whatever they wanted, now have to turn their worship exclusively to Satan. Thus, Satan has effectively pulled-off a successful religious “bait-n-switch” of historical proportions. Evil men thought they could get away with chasing whatever they wanted, and now, Satan/beast has a firm grasp of them ‘bait-hook-line-sinker.’ Evil men have to worship him, they are forced to worship him under threat of death. They have physically and satanically defiled themselves through taking the beast’s mark (or name, number) and thus, they have given themselves over totally, completely and whole heartedly to the beast’s kingdom and system.
Now, the whole mystery religion system has been destroyed “burned with fire, flesh consumed,” and replaced with the singular, exclusive worship of Satan. The ten (10) kings that helped carry the whore throughout the whole world, and conversely, helped destroy her when the time was right and dictated by Satan. Just as the beast and false prophet are puppets of Satan, the ten (10) kings are the ‘puppet thugs’ or ‘heavy muscle goons’ that carry the beast’s system and mystery religion (for 3 ½ years) throughout the world. ten (10) is a doubling of Satan’s evil number of 5 (five), (5×2=10). In the context of God’s divine mathematics, these “kings for an hour with the beast” represent a double portion of Satanic evil or worldly strength. ten (10) also represents a doubling of the satanically empowered beast’s kingdom, or a doubling of any kind of Satan’s influence.

(Emphasis added).
Commentary: In my previous commentaries regarding the various wraths (seal, trumpet and vial) I went into detail regarding those wraths that were just doled out onto the earth and those wraths which were doled out to evil man. When understood in totally and counted there are exactly ten (10) wraths assigned to earth and ten (10) wraths assigned to mankind from throughout the combined twenty-one (21) wraths of the seal/trumpet/vial judgements. Uh, wait-a-minute, you said that there were twenty-one (21) total wraths and I count a total of twenty wraths (10+10=20), what gives? You are short one (1) wrath. That was a great catch by eschatology students, however, there is one (1) seal which Christ opens (the final, seventh book seal). This seal does NOT have any wrath associated with it regarding the earth or evil mankind. Let’s revisit Christ’s opening of the seventh book seal, (Rev. 8:1-5) … “And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. And another angel came and stood at the altar, having golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand. And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.”
This is the only judgement or wrath out of the combined twenty-one (21) that creates a pause in the heavenly administration of judgement. Why is this? Dig into this a little deeper and apply a little discernment. Consider the sequence of the six (6) book seal openings that were opened directly prior the last or seventh seal opening. The four horsemen of the apocalypse (antichrist, war, famine, death) have shown up on the world scene during the first 3 ½ years of the Tribulation. War and calamity is everywhere. People who are resisting the antichrist and his system are turning to Jesus Christ for salvation, and are praying to Christ and God. I believe that most people who will come to Christ during the Tribulation will do so during the first 3 ½ years. These people are praying for forgiveness, they are praying to be spared from the beast, they are praying that they can avoid the wars, famines and resulting death. They are praying for both physical and spiritual salvation from the beast. The Bible is clear that God so values the prayers of the Saints, that he considers them as incense. Somehow, special angels are able to accumulate all the Saints prayers and present them to God. At the end of the seven (7) book seals, it is as if God allows a brief time out between the completion of the seven (7) book seals and the onset of the seven (7) trumpet wraths. God is giving those in heaven and those on earth a chance to ‘catch their breath’ during the “silence of about the space of half an hour.” This period also sets the stage for the introduction of the seven (7) angels who are being given the seven (7) trumpets to usher in the next phase of increasing wrath upon the earth and men.
We don’t know how long the “silence of about the space of half an hour,” lasts on earth. It could be weeks or months, we don’t know. However, it appears that there is a very brief period of time where there is no wrath poured out to allow mankind to consider or contemplate what has just occurred during the first six (6) book seal openings by the Lamb. This is an act of mercy of God’s part. He gives men a chance to consider what they are doing, what is going on around them and to consider the gospel of Jesus Christ being proclaimed throughout the world by the two supernatural witnesses, the angel and the Tribulation Saints being persecuted. Anyone who has an ear, and is inclined to hear, will do so during this period. Repentance, forgiveness and prayer will result. Prayer will be collected by angels and offered to God. Interestingly, the Revelation of Jesus Christ does NOT indicate any further delay in God’s judgement or the outpouring of his wrath during the trumpet or vial judgements. Rev. 10:6 makes a very significant statement by a mighty and glorious angel who says, “And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therin, that there should be time no longer.” (Emphasis added). “That there should be time no longer,” can also be interpreted that there will be no further delay or time allotted for a pause in the action (administration of judgement).
There you have it. Ten (10) earth judgements + ten (10) evil mankind judgements + one (1) half-hour pause for the sake of the Saints = Twenty-one (21) judgements. All the book seal, trumpet wraths and vial plagues are accounted for!
Why does God pour judgement and wrath out on the planet? As a Christian, it is relatively easy to see or understand why God judges evil mankind. But why the earth? Earth’s seas, freshwater systems, grasslands, jungles, grazing pastures all function in the ecosystem to provide food and water for evil mankind. The earth was designed and built by God so that man could thrive as a result of managing that which God created. Unfortunately, with the corruption, falling away and sin of man occurring back in Genesis, the earth has also been affected by man’s sin. God can’t stand anything sinful, whether it is alive in physical form or alive in spiritual form and anything likewise. Just as God’s plan is to work on the redemption of men from sin through his son, Jesus Christ, God also works on redeeming and rebuilding the earth. This occurs during the Millennial period of Christ’s 1,000 year reign on earth. Yes, the ten (10) wraths poured out on earth absolutely hammer our planet. However, God will revitalize and renew the earth to its original ‘Eden-like’ state.

Commentary: The ten (10) references to both trumpets and to vials indicates God’s allness or physical completeness on earth. Both the trumpet and vial wraths are fully completed on earth. God even indicates in the very last vial wrath reference (Rev. 16:17), “It is done.” He is finished. Throughout all of the book of Revelation, only trumpets and vials are associated with both angels and wrath.

Commentary: What is a throne? A seat reserved from someone special, usually a ruler, king, someone in authority and power. A throne can be beautiful, ornate, glorious, shining. It can be made out of gold, or any precious material. It is designed to glorify the one sitting on it. By the one who sits on a throne, there can be no questions as to who is in charge, who is in control, who is in authority or who makes the rules. A judge sits on a throne like chair. Someone who sits on a throne has earned the right to sit there. In the context of the Bible, a throne centers attention towards God and Jesus to be seen, to be the focus and object of worship. God and Jesus share their throne. The 24 elders do NOT have thrones – they have seats (Rev. 4:4, big difference!). The redeemed have thrones (Rev. 3:21, 20:4). The White (righteous) throne is special and unique throne used for the judgement of evil men at the end of the Millennium (Rev. 20:11).
There at thirty (30) references to thrones. (3×10=30). God’s intensity and emphasis x God’s completeness in a physical way.
The thirty (30) references are the largest number of references to any subject related to God’s allness or completeness. A throne is so special a focal point in his organization and reign, that he repeats a reference to his position on the throne, many times. God’s use of thrones is the only single entity, in the entire book of Revelation, that receives this many references. God’s throne is extremely important because it is one (of many) key attributes that identify the “I AM” as God.
All of the combined references contain descriptions of what the throne room looks like, who is in the throne room, what they are doing in the throne room, what is happening in the throne room, what comes out of the throne room, who is or will sit on thrones, etc. Again, the throne is just one of many physical manifestations of God’s reign.
