RIYADH: Arab leaders congratulated Donald Trump on Wednesday after his comprehensive victory in the US presidential election. Saudi Arabia’s King Salman sent a cable of congratulations to Trump, wishing him success and the “American people further progress and prosperity.”

The king praised the strong historical ties between the two nations, “emphasizing the shared desire to further strengthen these bonds in all areas.”

CROWN PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN ALSO SENT A CABLE TO CONGRATULATE TRUMP. In a phone call later on Wednesday, the crown prince expressed the Kingdom’s aspiration to strengthen Saudi-US relations. He wished the American people PROGRESS AND PROSPERITY under Trump’s leadership.

The Republican made Saudi Arabia his first foreign visit after he took office for his first term as president in 2017. The visit underlined the importance of the historic US-Saudi partnership and cemented relations with Gulf allies.

Those countries congratulated Trump after he declared victory in a sweeping election win over Democrat Kamala Harris.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan offered “sincere congratulations to Trump and his running mate JD Vance.”

Skeikh Mohamed added: “The UAE and US are united by our enduring partnership based on shared ambitions for progress.

“The UAE looks forward to continuing to work with our partners in the US towards a future of OPPORTUNITY, PROSPERITY AND STABILITY FOR ALL.”

During Trump’s first term, his administration brokered the 2020 Abraham Accords deal under which Israel opened full relations with the UAE and a number of other Arab countries.

However, the devastating war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and its expansion into Lebanon has drawn widespread condemnation of Israel from regional leaders and dominated foreign policy discussion throughout the election campaign, with Trump promising to bring fighting to an end.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said he hoped Trump’s return to the White House would help BRING PEACE TO THE MIDDLE EAST.

“I wish him all the success and I look forward to REACHING PEACE TOGETHER, UPHOLDING REGIONAL STABILITY and strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States,” El-Sisi said.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II also invoked the need for the next US president to work toward peace.

“Warmest congratulations to President Donald Trump on winning the US presidential election,” he said. “Looking forward to working with you again to bolster Jordan’s longstanding partnership with the United States, in service of regional and GLOBAL PEACE AND STABILITY FOR ALL.”

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the emir of Qatar, which is a key mediator in the Gaza conflict and hosts the largest US military base in the Middle East, said he looked forward to “working together again in PROMOTING SECURITY AND STABILITY BOTH IN THE REGION AND GLOBALLY.”

FORMER US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP AND HIS FORMER SENIOR ADVISOR AND SON-IN-LAW JARED KUSHNER ARE STILL RECEIVING FINANCIAL BENEFITS AFTER FOSTERING A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH SAUDI ARABIAN CROWN PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN (MBS) DURING THEIR TIME IN OFFICE, the Washington Post reported this week.

This murky relationship with the Saudis puts Trump’s integrity into question as the 2024 US presidential election approaches.

The Saudis provided both Trump and Kushner with sizable investments after their term, during which THEY BOLSTERED MBS’S GRIP ON THE COUNTRY BY ARRANGING THAT TRUMP’S FIRST PRESIDENTIAL TRIP BE TO SAUDI ARABIA, MEETING WITH HIM IN THE US, AND SIDING WITH HIM IN SEVERAL CONTROVERSIES. 

SAUDI ARABIA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION

Both up-and-coming proteges of powerful families, Mohammed and Kushner connected shortly after the onset of Trump’s 2016 term. Over the course of Trump’s presidency, their relationship would prove advantageous for all sides.

TRUMP’S SUPPORT HELPED MBS RISE TO POWER, blockade his neighboring Qatar, and get away with his role in the murder of Washington Post opinion columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Trump and Kushner benefited from the relationship through several successful Israel-related foreign policy deals, as well as significant financial investments after his presidency.

HOW SAUDI CROWN PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN IS RISING TO POWER ON THE WORLD’S STAGE

Mohammed and Kushner remained in close contact throughout the term, to the concern of his White House colleagues. Kushner kept other officials in the dark on many projects he led, according to two former White House officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity.  

“I didn’t really know what Jared was doing with the Saudis,” a former White House official told the Post. “That was part of the problem. We didn’t know what Jared was doing generally. And, you know, other governments had decided that you want to get close to Trump, the way to do it is through Jared.”

Kushner’s newfound power was all the more concerning to these officials due to his lack of experience. After a 2016 post-election meeting with Kushner, Mohammed’s advisers wrote: “Kushner made clear his lack of familiarity with the history of Saudi-American relations.” In his memoir, Kushner himself wrote that he “was learning diplomacy on the fly.”

In March 2017, MBS visited D.C. and Trump and Kushner met with him against the advice of Trump’s national security council. Later that month, Kushner requested that Trump choose Saudi Arabia as his first foreign destination to jump-start the administration’s Middle East policy by laying the groundwork for a diplomatic breakthrough between Saudi Arabia and Israel. MBS and the Saudis would condemn terrorism in the region, purchase US arms, and create American jobs, Kushner promised. After substantial deliberation, Trump decided to fly to Riyadh. This effort was the first of Kushner’s many favors to MBS, who utilized Trump’s visit to solidify his then-imminent rise to the crown prince.

In return, MBS gave Trump his support for an anti-terrorism center and the Abraham Accords, a deal restoring relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, as well as other Middle Eastern nations.

In October 2018, Khashoggi, a journalist who commonly criticized the Saudi government, was ambushed and murdered by Saudi assassins. The CIA discovered that MBS had sanctioned the operation––an accusation that put his recent rise to power at risk. 

HOWEVER, TRUMP “SAVED HIS ASS,” ACCORDING TO BOB WOODARD’S THE TRUMP TAPES. TRUMP DENIED MBS’S INVOLVEMENT IN THE SCANDAL, REFUTED THE CIA’S REPORT, AND VIED FOR CONTINUED ARMS SALES WITH THE SAUDIS.

After leaving the White House, Trump and Kushner faced pivotal financial hurdles sparked by their political polarity. Trump’s policies weren’t exactly consensus, and the January 6 attack on the capitol didn’t help his company’s already nosediving revenues. Kushner’s senior advising position put him in a similarly difficult situation.

Shortly after Trump’s term ended, Kushner created a private equity fund for which he needed investors––a seemingly suboptimal situation for someone with little-to-no experience in the private equity space. However, according to The Washington Post and the New York Times, HE RECEIVED A $2 BILLION INVESTMENT FROM THE SAUDI’S PUBLIC INVESTMENT FUND, WHICH IS CHAIRED BY MBS. HIS FIRM STRUCTURED THE FUNDS SO THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE TO DISCLOSE THE SOURCE, USING A COMMON STRATEGY THAT EQUITY FIRMS USE TO CLASSIFY FUNDING SOURCES, THE POST REPORTED. 

Four out of the five people on the Saudi fund’s advising panel spoke out against the investment in a private meeting due to Kushner’s inexperience. Nevertheless, MBS LED THE FULL BOARD IN PUSHING THE DEAL TOWARDS APPROVAL, ACCORDING TO THE NEW YORK TIMES.

After the PGA Tour cut ties with Trump, his golf courses began hosting tournaments for the LIV Golf, a Saudi-backed venture. Additionally, Trump closed a deal with a Saudi real estate company to build a Trump hotel as part of a $4 billion golf resort in Oman.

“The financial links between the Saudi royal family and the Trump family raise very serious issues,” said Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), the chair of the Senate Finance Committee who is investigating the Saudis’ ties with Trump and Kushner, “and when you factor in Jared Kushner’s financial interests, you are looking right at the cat’s cradle of financial entanglements.”

There are ethics laws against retired military personnel working with foreign governments like Saudi Arabia’s, yet there are none against former presidents or senior white house officials.

“I think the Congress had a certain vision in mind for what the post-presidency looks like, such as creating a library and museum and some speaking and writing a memoir,” said Don Fox, former acting director of the Office of Government Ethics. “I don’t think it ever occurred to the drafters of these ethics laws that a former president would actually try to cash in on his years of office this way.”

WHY THE MIDDLE EAST WILL WEIGH HEAVILY ON THE NEW US PRESIDENT’S AGENDA

LONDON: America has voted and now the Middle East waits to discover who has won — and, crucially, what that victory will mean for a region with which the US has had a complex relationship ever since President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz bin Saud met for historic talks on a US warship in the Suez Canal in 1945.

Whichever way CNN and the other big US channels have called the result of the US presidential election, it could be days, or even weeks, before America’s arcane electoral process reaches its final conclusion and the winner is formally declared.

Although they have ticked the box on their ballot papers alongside their preferred candidate, America’s voters have not actually voted directly for Kamala Harris, Donald Trump or any of the four other runners.

Instead, in proportion to its number of representatives in Congress, each state appoints electors to the Electoral College, the combined membership of which votes for the president and the vice president.

It is rare, but not unknown, for electors to disregard the popular vote. But either way, to become president, a candidate needs the votes of at least 270 of the college’s 538 electors.

Their votes will be counted, and the winner announced, in a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6. The president-elect is then sworn into office on Monday, Jan. 20 — and, as first days at work go, these promise to be intense.

THERE WILL BE MANY ISSUES, DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN, CLAMORING FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE NEW PRESIDENT AND THEIR TEAM.

BUT OF ALL THE IN-TRAYS JOSTLING FOR ATTENTION, IT IS THE ONE LABELED “MIDDLE EAST” THAT WILL WEIGH MOST HEAVILY ON THE RESOLUTE DESK IN THE OVAL OFFICE AND ON THE MIND OF THE INCOMING PRESIDENT.

DEPENDING ON HOW THEY ARE HANDLED, THE SUM OF THE CHALLENGES CONTAINED IN THAT IN-TRAY COULD ADD UP EITHER TO AN OPPORTUNITY TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING NO AMERICAN PRESIDENT HAS ACHIEVED BEFORE, OR AN INVITATION TO A DISASTROUS, LEGACY-SHREDDING ENCOUNTER WITH SOME OF THE WORLD’S MOST PRESSING AND INTRACTABLE PROBLEMS.

In November 2016, then-President-Elect DONALD TRUMP DECLARED: “I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO BE THE ONE THAT MADE PEACE WITH ISRAEL AND THE PALESTINIANS.” A LOT OF “REALLY GREAT PEOPLE” HAD TOLD HIM THAT “IT’S IMPOSSIBLE — YOU CAN’T DO IT.”

BUT HE ADDED: “I DISAGREE … I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE I CAN DO IT.”

Every US president since Jimmy Carter, who led the Camp David talks that culminated in a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel in 1979, has been drawn inexorably into the maelstrom of Middle East politics — partly through economic and political necessity, but also because of THE NOBEL-WINNING ALLURE OF GOING DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE GREATEST PEACEMAKER THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN.

Not for nothing, however, is the Israel-Palestine issue known in diplomatic circles as “the graveyard of US peacemaking.”

Since Oct. 7, 2023, and Israel’s onslaught on Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups in Gaza and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, a crisis long deemed intractable appears to have degenerated even further to a point of no return.

All the talk throughout the election by both of the main candidates, calculated to walk the electoral tightrope between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian voters, will now be forgotten.

All that matters now is action — careful, considered action, addressing issues including the desperate need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the REOPENING OF THE MUCH-CRATERED PATHWAY TO A TWO-STATE SOLUTION.

Epitomizing the hypocrisy that has so infuriated millions, including the many Arab American voters who have switched their allegiance from the Democrats to the Republicans in this election, the Biden-Harris administration has bemoaned the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians while simultaneously supplying Israel with the munitions that killed them.

FOR TRUMP, REGAINING THE WHITE HOUSE WOULD BE A SECOND CHANCE AT PEACEMAKER IMMORTALITY AND, PERHAPS, THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE HE FELT HE DESERVED FOR HIS 2020 ABRAHAM ACCORDS INITIATIVE.

Last time around, Trump did achieve the breakthrough of establishing diplomatic relations between Israel and the UAE and Bahrain. THE BIG PRIZE, WHICH ELUDED HIM IN 2020, WAS BRINGING SAUDI ARABIA ON BOARD. THE KINGDOM HAS MADE IT CLEAR THAT FOR THAT TO HAPPEN, ONE CONDITION MUST BE FULFILLED — THE OPENING OF A MEANINGFUL PATH TO PALESTINIAN STATEHOOD. THIS, THEREFORE, COULD WELL BE ON THE TO-DO LIST OF A TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IN 2025.

For Harris, the presidency would be a chance to step out from under the shadow of the Biden administration, which has so spectacularly failed to restrain Israel, its client state, and in the process has only deepened the crisis in the Middle East and undermined trust in the US in the region.

The West Bank

If America has equivocated over events in Palestine and Lebanon, the Biden administration has not turned a blind eye to the provocative, destabilizing activities of extremist Jewish settler groups in the West Bank.

In February, the White House issued an executive order imposing sanctions on “persons undermining PEACE, SECURITY, AND STABILITY in the West Bank.” The order, signed by President Joe Biden, condemned the “high levels of extremist settler violence, forced displacement of people and villages, and property destruction,” which had “reached intolerable levels” and constituted “a serious threat to the PEACE, SECURITY, AND STABILITY of the West Bank and Gaza, Israel, and the broader Middle East region.”

So far, the US, reluctant to act against members of an ally’s government, has stopped short of sanctioning Israel’s far-right ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir, the chief settler rabble-rousers in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet.

Whether Harris would continue with, or even strengthen the sanctions policy, remains to be seen, but the settlers believe that Trump would let them off the hook. “If Trump takes the election, there will be no sanctions,” Israel Ganz, chairman of one of the main settler groups, told Reuters last week.

“If Trump loses the election, we will in the state of Israel … have a problem with sanctions that the government over here has to deal with.”

It was, after all, TRUMP WHO RECOGNIZED JERUSALEM AS THE CAPITAL OF ISRAEL, undoing decades of US foreign policy, and moved the US Embassy there from Tel Aviv.

Whoever wins, if they are truly interested in peace in the region, they will need to exert pressure on Netanyahu to bring the extremist right-wingers in his government to heel. It was Ben Gvir’s repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound that Hamas cited as the main provocation that triggered its Oct. 7 attack on Israel last year.

In the wake of his election defeat that year, he ordered the rapid withdrawal of all US troops from Afghanistan. The order was not carried out, but in September 2021, the Biden administration followed suit, ending America’s 20-year war and leading to the collapse of the Afghan National Security Forces and the takeover of the country by the Taliban.

ALLIANCE FOR THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION TAKES SHAPE IN RIYADH

Last week, Riyadh hosted the first meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution

THE ALLIANCE WAS LAUNCHED IN SEPTEMBER IN NEW YORK ON THE SIDELINES OF THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY’S 79TH SESSION. SAUDI ARABIA AND NORWAY, TOGETHER WITH THE EU AND THE ARAB LEAGUE, WERE THE MAIN BACKERS AT THE TIME, BUT MANY MORE HAVE SINCE EXPRESSED SUPPORT AND AN INTEREST IN MAKING IT HAPPEN.

SAUDI ARABIAN FOREIGN MINISTER PRINCE FAISAL BIN FARHAN OPENED THE RIYADH DELIBERATIONS ON OCT. 30, WITH MORE THAN 90 COUNTRIES AND GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS IN ATTENDANCE. HE STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF INTENSIFYING EFFORTS TO MAKE THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION A REALITY AND REITERATED THE KINGDOM AND ITS PARTNERS’ COMMITMENT TO ATTAINING PEACE “THROUGH PRACTICAL STEPS AND SPECIFIC TIMETABLES AIMED AT ENDING THE OCCUPATION AND REALIZING THE INDEPENDENT PALESTINIAN STATE.”

He called for an immediate ceasefire, pointing out that the escalation and expansion of the conflict are undermining the CHANCES FOR A TWO-STATE SOLUTION AND INCREASING REGIONAL INSTABILITY. He voiced grave concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and expressed strong support for UNRWA to help it deal with these unprecedented challenges.

Speaker after speaker echoed those remarks. While THE MEETING’S FOCUS WAS MEANT TO BE THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION, the catastrophic conditions in Gaza dominated the remarks of many delegates. Their concerns were heightened by Israel’s measure, taken two days earlier, to ban UNRWA, whose chief Philippe Lazzarini took part in the meeting.

THERE WAS A CLEAR UNIVERSAL CONSENSUS ON THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION AND THE RIGHT OF SELF-DETERMINATION FOR THE PALESTINIANS. THE PARTICULAR PARAMETERS FOR THIS SOLUTION, INCLUDING THE ARAB PEACE INITIATIVE, WERE ALSO AGREED BY AN OVERWHELMING GLOBAL MAJORITY BEYOND THE ALLIANCE, INCLUDING BY COUNTRIES CONSIDERED TO BE ALLIES OR VERY CLOSE FRIENDS OF ISRAEL, SUCH AS THE US, UK AND GERMANY.

There was also a clear consensus on what needs to be done over the coming weeks and months TO MOVE THE WORK OF THE GLOBAL ALLIANCE FORWARD, INCLUDING PUTTING TOGETHER AN ACTION PLAN WITH CLEAR STEPS AND TIMETABLES.

However, GIVEN THE MONUMENTAL TASKS BEFORE THE GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION, A DIVISION OF LABOR IS CLEARLY NEEDED. The humanitarian situation in Gaza needs immediate attention to stop Israel’s genocidal actions and alleviate the near-famine conditions there. It is therefore important to establish a separate track to deal with this rapidly deteriorating situation, including continuing efforts to reach agreement on a ceasefire and exchange of hostages, detainees and prisoners.

The humanitarian track should also focus on improving humanitarian access and the delivery of aid, both of which are hampered by Israeli actions, including its measures against UNRWA. An immediate issue of concern is the protection of humanitarian workers to enable aid organizations to carry out their activities. The sincere sentiments expressed at the Riyadh meeting in support of this need to be translated into tangible diplomatic and financial steps to enable aid organizations to fulfill their mandates. Some participants proposed a UN-supervised cross-border mechanism to deliver aid akin to what is done between Syria and Turkiye to improve access and aid delivery.

The second track should focus on economic issues, such as developing proposals to strengthen the Palestinian economy, improve living conditions for Palestinians and provide economic opportunities. Its work should also include improving governance by working with the Palestinian Authority and donors to strengthen state institutions and improve the delivery of basic services.

IN JUST ONE MONTH, MORE THAN 90 COUNTRIES AND ORGANIZATIONS HAVE JOINED AND MANY MORE HAVE EXPRESSED SUPPORT

More immediately, this track should also focus on the stabilization, recovery and resilience of the Gaza Strip and removing Israeli restrictions on economic activity in the West Bank.

The third track should deal with the political and security requisites of the Palestinian state. There are successful examples, such as Kosovo and Namibia, where the international community, including the UN and NATO, were able to provide the security support needed in such situations. These requirements include the protection of civilians in Gaza and the West Bank and the security arrangements needed to replace Israeli forces in the Occupied Territories. This track should also include Gaza-West Bank reunification arrangements.

Within each track, it would be useful to establish specialized working groups, where needed, to bring in specialized talent and input. One common objective of each of the working groups should be to coordinate the current efforts undertaken by many parties and build on what has already been done. These small working groups will be able to move relatively quickly and develop proposals for the larger group to adopt, while avoiding being slowed down or overwhelmed by a particular issue.

The alliance has great potential and its collective work is important to keep effective overall oversight and make sure it achieves its intended goals. In just one month, more than 90 countries and intergovernmental organizations have joined and many more have expressed support. THE ALLIANCE ALREADY REPRESENTS ABOUT HALF OF THE UN’S MEMBERSHIP AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO GROW FURTHER.

With the expanded membership, it would be useful to establish a steering committee to help the alliance organize its activities and oversee the work of its separate components along the three tracks and maintain the consensus and cohesion of the alliance, while avoiding divisive issues.

NO NORMALIZATION WITH ISRAEL WITHOUT PALESTINIAN STATE: SAUDI ARABIA’S FM

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan slammed Israel’s “devaluing” of Palestinian lives, REAFFIRMING RIYADH’S STANCE THAT THERE WILL BE NO NORMALIZATION OF TIES WITHOUT A PALESTINIAN STATE.

“The level of destruction in Gaza and of really devaluing the human lives of ordinary Palestinians will feed a cycle that is against everybody’s interest,” Prince Faisal said during an interview at THE FUTURE INVESTMENT INITIATIVE (FII) IN THE SAUDI CAPITAL.

It is estimated that over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombardment since last October, when Israel’s military began bombing Gaza in response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. The Israelis have also routinely blocked humanitarian aid from getting into the enclave, which has culminated in a recent warning from the US that if more aid does not get in, the US may take specific measures in response.

Washington and the Biden administration have largely been criticized for failing to curb Israel’s response to the Oct. 7 and prevent what many have referred to as a genocide against the Palestinian people.

Asked about referring to this as genocide, Prince Faisal said the blockade of any access to humanitarian goods, with a continued Israeli military assault and no pathway for civilians to find shelter or safe zones, “can only be described as a form of genocide. “It is certainly against international humanitarian law, and this is feeding a continuing cycle of violence.”

Despite the yearlong war, THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION CONTINUES TO TOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF BROKERING A DEAL FOR SAUDI ARABIA TO ESTABLISH DIPLOMATIC TIES WITH ISRAEL. PRINCE FAISAL SAID THAT WAS “NOT JUST A RISK; IT IS OFF THE TABLE UNTIL WE HAVE A RESOLUTION TO A PALESTINIAN STATE.”

AS PART OF A DEAL FLOATED BY WASHINGTON, SAUDI ARABIA WOULD ALSO RECEIVE STRONG SECURITY GUARANTEES AND ACCESS TO WEAPONS VIA THE US. WITHOUT NORMALIZATION, SAUDI ARABIA IS “QUITE HAPPY” TO WAIT UNTIL ITS DEMANDS ARE MET, PRINCE FAISAL SAID.

Nevertheless, Prince Faisal said the working relationship with the US was “among the best we’ve ever had, including in the national security space, but also on issues of economic cooperation.”

SAUDI ARABIA LAUNCHED A NEW INITIATIVE LAST MONTH AIMED AT IMPLEMENTING THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION TO ALLOW PALESTINIANS TO RECEIVE THEIR RIGHT TO SELF-DETERMINATION. ISRAEL CONTINUES TO REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PALESTINIAN STATE OR DISCUSS THE STEPS NEEDED FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. Prince Faisal said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent comments that, once again, failed to mention Palestinians or a need to end the war in Gaza were concerning.

“That tells me that there is a real lack of understanding of strategic reality. We are here in this region, we are stuck in this region, all of us, the Palestinians and everybody. And we have to find a way to live with each other,” Prince Faisal said, warning that if this doesn’t happen, “We are setting ourselves for a continuing cycle of violence that serves no one except the extremists.”

WHILE SEVERAL STEPS NEED TO BE TAKEN IN ORDER TO RECOGNIZE AN INDEPENDENT PALESTINIAN STATE, THE TOP SAUDI DIPLOMAT SAID IT WAS NOT UP TO WHETHER OR NOT ISRAEL ACCEPTS IT. “IT’S TIED TO THE PRINCIPLES OF INTERNATIONAL LAW. AND I WILL SAY THAT THE UNITED NATIONS RESOLUTIONS THAT LED TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL CLEARLY HAD A PALESTINIAN STATE IN VIEW AS WELL. SO, WE NEED TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN,” HE SAID.

Separately, the Saudi foreign minister corrected recent news reports about joint military exercises between Saudi Arabia and Iran. “There haven’t been any military exercises. I think, given the current regional context, it’s unlikely that there are going to be exercises in the near term.”

FIVE-FOLD SINS RESULTING IN MEN’S ETERNAL DAMNATION:

Commentary: There are a total of eighteen (18) verses that indicate the eternal sins of damnation that result from worshipping the beast, worshipping his image and taking his mark of identification. Three (3) denotes God’s emphasis and intensity. Six (6) denotes the evil number of man = 18, or 6+6+6 = 18, or 666 . . . “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is he number of a man; and his number is Six Hundred and threescore and six (666).” (Rev. 13:18). Worshipping the beast, his image and taking his mark are the eternal sins that men commit during the Tribulation.

There are a total of ten (10) combined references of evil men taking the beast’s mark, number or name. These three descriptions are synonymous with being identified with (or belonging) to the beast and his system. Ten (10) denotes God’s allness or physical completeness regarding things on earth. These ten references indicate man’s complete earthly evilness and damnation resulting from taking either the mark, number of name of the beast and his kingdom.

These men are so deceived and evil, that they not only allow themselves to worship the beast and his fake image, but they allow themselves to be physically ‘branded’ or marked in order to be identified with the beast. Evil men obtain this mark, number or name so they can also participate in the global economy in terms of buying and selling. They have to be identified as having this mark, number or name, physically evident on either their right hand or forehead, in order to be allowed to execute a purchasing or selling transaction. Once evil men worship the beast, his image and take his mark (or number, name), they are damned.

There are three verses regarding a very specific, powerful and clear angelic warning given to men on earth, to NOT worship the beast, or his image, or take his mark (name, number). Three (3) denotes God’s emphasis and intensity.

. . . “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” (Rev. 14:9, 14:10, 14:11)

Twice (2) the message is directed at men. The angel repeats himself indicating that the message is for men and what behavior is judged eternally sinful (for ever and ever). Men who worship the beast, his image and take his mark will;

1. Experience God’s wrath.
2. God’s wrath will not be diluted, or held back, but given in full strength.
3. They will be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone for torment.
4. There torment will be forever and ever (eternity).
5. Their torment will be witnessed by holy angels.
6. Their torment will take place in the presence of the Lamb.
7. They will have no rest day or night, forever and ever (eternity).

There are seven (7) specific results that stem from men worshipping the beast, his image and taking his mark (name or number). Seven (7) denotes God’s divinely determined completeness as to his purpose or plan. Eternal punishment in the lake of fire and brimstone, day and night is the strongest wrath that God gives evil men (and Satan, beast/antichrist and false prophet). There is a specific mention that this torment takes place in the presence of the Lamb. These men, while in their torment, will see or consciously be aware of the existence of Jesus Christ. This will provide added pain, anguish and misery since they will be painfully made aware of the choice of their decisions (to worship the beast, his image and take his mark). They were warned not to do what they did.

The Bible gives plenty of examples of the glory that is given to those who did NOT worship the beast, his image or take his mark. Yet, despite the angelic warning . . . despite the 3 ½ year testimony of two witness and prophets . . . despite the witnessing of Tribulation Saints . . . despite the flying angel who proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ . . . evil men still chose to worship the beast, his image and to take his mark, name or number.

They chose to ignore the messages, the warnings, and the testimonies. And now, they are in the lake of fire and brimstone, and will have to pay the price for their evil decision(s), for eternity. They see Jesus Christ, and have become painfully aware of what they could have had through Jesus Christ and instead, they chose the false, empty promises of Satan by worshipping the beast, his image and taking his mark, name or number.

Their extreme bitterness and woeful regret will emotionally torment them for eternity, in addition to the physical pain, suffering and torment that they will experience in the lake of fire for eternity. Through their decision to follow Satan, God gave them exactly what they wanted. They did not want anything to do with Jesus Christ, who paid for their sins with his own blood. As such, God gave them over to Satan, since it was their free decision or choice, and what they desired while they were physically alive on earth.

These evil men did everything humanly possible to ignore warnings, to blaspheme God, to ignore the gospel of Jesus Christ, and instead they accepted and believed in lies, worshipped Satan, the beast and his image. Evil men even went so far as to physically defile their bodies (flesh) by taking the branding (mark, number or name) of the beast. All of these actions and behaviors enabled evil men to give themselves totally and wholeheartedly over to Satan through his system of the beast/antichrist and the false prophet.

There are two visions describing what John the Apostle saw, regarding men who were overcomers (them that had gotten victory) by NOT worshipping the beast, his image or taking his mark, number or name.

. . . “And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgements are made manifest.” (Rev. 15:2, 15:3, 15:4).

. . . “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgement was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” (Rev. 20:4).

Men who do NOT worship the beast, his image and take his mark are described as;

1. They are in heaven (stand on a sea of glass).
2. They have harps of God.
3. They sing praises and worship Jesus Christ for their salvation.
4. They acknowledge that God’s judgements came to pass.
5. They are given thrones upon which they sit upon.
6. They are given judgement.
7. They live and reign with Christ for a thousand years.

There are seven (7) specific results that stem from men NOT worshipping the beast, his image and taking his mark (name or number). Seven (7) denotes God’s divinely determined completeness as to his purpose or plan. These blessings or glories are the complete opposite of what awaits those men who DID worship the beast, his image and took his mark, name, number.

1. The righteous are in heaven for eternity versus evil men who are in the lake of fire and brimstone for eternity.
2. The righteous are joyful and play harps versus evil men who are bitter, resentful, angry, tormented, cry and wail in anguish.
3. The righteous sing the praise of and worship Jesus Christ versus evil men who once praised and worshipped Satan (through the beast, his image and in taking his mark).
4. Righteous men acknowledge that what God said would come to pass, in fact did come to pass (made manifest) versus evil men who ignored and rejected warnings, the gospel and testimonies of the truth.
5. The righteous are given thrones in heaven versus evil men who are drowning in torment in the lake of fire.
6. The righteous are given judgement versus evil men who are judged.
7. The righteous live and reign with Christ verses evil men who die and fall with Satan.

The avoidance of doing these five (5) eternal sins is one of the most important themes, in the entire book of Revelation. Men must avoid doing these things, literally at all costs. Even to the point of being beheaded or martyred. Men’s eternal destinies depend on it. Worshipping the beast, his image and taking his mark, name or number result in eternal damnation. There is no way of sugar coating or downplaying this reality.

JUDGING OR JUDGEMENT IS DESCRIBED AS;

God is the judge and provides judgements or decisions based on the actions, behaviors and deeds of men and angels.

Judgement is a decision requested to be made on behalf of someone (Tribulation Saints) who were wrongfully hurt (beheaded).

Someone (nations) are caught bloody red handed and are angry knowing that they will be judged for their actions, behavior and evil deeds. They are angry because they didn’t get away with it and were caught. They know they are going to have pay a price which they can’t afford.

Judgement is a request that someone be righted a wrong done to them.

Judgement is a request for a reward promised based on a stated outcome.

Judgement is based on timing. An evil act is done, its results are noted and accounted for. Time comes for the evil act to be judged and the resulting judgement exercised or made manifest.

Judgement, or the decision of what should be done has to be acted upon or made to occur (sent to prison). This is known as making a judgement manifest or physically exercised. This is the doing of what should be done.

Witnesses in the public gallery indicate that God’s judgements are “true and righteous.” This means that the public gallery can attest to the fact that God did take everything into account, all the details, actions, deeds, events, behaviors, statements, intents and came to the correct and truthful conclusion regarding the matter. Nothing was left out. Everything was taken into consideration as evidence, properly evaluated and applied against the benchmark, standard and/or law that was being applied. God’s administration of justice and his resulting judgements are found to be accurate, spot on, truthful, correct, no question about it. In Biblical words, “true and righteous.”

God is described as judging the “great whore” a.k.a. Babylon City (the great worldly capital of the beast’s/antichrist’s kingdom).

God is strong, meaning he can’t be swayed or weak in the sense that he lets some evil slide a bit in terms of not being judged or of receiving judgement. He is firm in his judgements and not weak-kneed. He does not fold under public pressure. He can’t be influenced, bribed, manipulated or pushed by a particular special interest group, lobby or entrenched political ideology or group. He is strong, firm, steadfast, unwavering in the application of his administration of justice.

The wrath of his resulting judgements is not watered down or filtered out or held back. He gives the criminal, evil-person no slack and gives them the fullest extent of prison term possible (eternity). They are not sent to a plush prison serving three square meals a day with a basketball court, but to a lake of fire and brimstone. God does not ‘molly-coddle’ the evil, he gives them exactly what they deserve. He does not withhold his judgements, he pours out his wrath in full strength (at just the right time).

God’s judgement comes very swiftly, within “one hour.” There is no long drawn out period of rebuttals, challenges, reviews, counter-suits, passing on to a higher court, etc. A decision is made and done. The action of the decision is made manifest, very quickly. There is no delay in the manifestation of the decision. Babylon City is destroyed within one hour, split into three parts by a very great earthquake, consumed by fire and hammered by 100lb. hailstones (weight of a talent). Period.

There is no punishment meted out in stages, over a long period of time. There is no slap on the wrist that comes with an admonition to don’t do it again. The celestial sledgehammer is dropped quickly and decisively, no force is held back.

God’s judgement includes not only the living but also the dead. Jesus Christ opens his book of life, to see if a dead man’s name is in it. The book of life is not unlike an accounting ledger that records all the debits and credits amassed over a period of time. These debits and credits are referred to as “according to their works.” If a man’s name is found in his book of life, Jesus acknowledges as much to the Father and “confesses the man’s name even to the angels.” Through Jesus Christ and his book of life, God is able to righteously judge dead men. Jesus’ book of life accounts for everyone, past, present and future.

Numbers within numbers, meanings within meanings. Twelve (12) descriptions of judging or judgement and twelve (12) references or verses from throughout the book of Revelation. Judging / Judgement. (Def.); to form a conclusion about a subject or outcome, to decide as in a case of court, to give a verdict about someone or something in court as truthful, applying the administration of justice and truthfulness. Only God and Jesus Christ are the judges. Period.

 Only God and Jesus Christ do the judging. Period. Only God and Jesus Christ reward, withhold or punish. Period. Only God and Jesus Christ are judge, jury, and jailer. God has his wrath. Jesus Christ has the keys to heaven and hell. Having judgement and exercising judgement is derived from authority and rule. One can only be a judge if they have the authority to judge and the right to judge. One has to be competent to judge, to be able to discern right from wrong, truth from lies, good from evil, just from unjust, righteousness from unrighteousness, clarity from deception, godly from ungodliness, saved from unsaved.

To be able to judge, one has to know all the facts, all the outcomes, all the intents, all the behaviors and apply these against a benchmark, a standard, a law that determines whether the data observed meet the benchmark, standard or law. Since God is omnipotent and knows everything occurring past, present and future, he is supremely just in knowing everything to take into account in performing judgement. He is the only one capable of exercising correct, truthful and righteous judgement because he can and does take everything into consideration when exercising his administration of justice.

Jesus Christ is the benchmark, the standard and/or the law. Jesus Christ paid our court fees, he paid the bail, and also paid a very expensive price so we wouldn’t have to go to jail, to the dungeon, to the hangman or to the lake of fire. God’s law of righteousness and truthfulness is;

Admit/Acknowledge/Accept that you are sinner. Ask God’s forgiveness and repent of your sins.

. . .For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

. . .As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3:10)

. . .If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8)

Believe Jesus is Lord. Believe that Jesus Christ is who He claimed to be; that He was both fully God and fully man and that we are saved through His death, burial, and resurrection. Put your trust in Him as your only hope of salvation. Become a son or daughter of God by receiving Christ.

. . .That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:15-17). For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Call upon His name, Confess with your heart and with your lips that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.

. . .That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

This is the benchmark, standard and/or law by which God judges men. If Jesus Christ finds a man who meets this benchmark, standard and/or law, he acknowledges and confesses the man’s name before God as belonging to him and having meet the requirements. Jesus Christ acts as our lawyer, on our behalf, in the administration of God’s justice. Jesus saves us in God’s court of law and in the administration of God’s justice.

THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT

But the fearful, and UNBELIEVING, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH.

SEVEN-FOLD REFERENCE TO LAKE OF FIRE JUDGEMENT:

1. “He that hath an ear, let hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of THE SECOND DEATH (LAKE OF FIRE).” (Rev. 2:11).
2. “The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he SHALL BE TORMENTED WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosover receiveth the mark of his name.” (Rev. 14:10-11).
3. “And THE BEAST was taken, and with him THE FALSE PROPHET that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These BOTH WERE CAST ALIVE INTO A LAKE OF FIRE BURNING WITH BRIMSTONE.” (Rev. 19:20).
4. “And the devil that deceived them was cast into THE LAKE OF FIRE AND BRIMSTONE, WHERE THE BEAST AND THE FALSE PROPHET ARE, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” (Rev. 20:10).
5. “And death and hell were cast into THE LAKE OF FIRE. THIS IS THE SECOND DEATH.” (Rev. 20:14).
6. “And whosover was not found written in the book of life WAS CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.” (Rev. 20:15).
7. “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part IN THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH.” (Rev. 21:8).

The lake of fire is also known as the ‘second death’. This is the final place of burning, everlasting torment for Satan, the antichrist, the false prophet and those un-saved, un-believing souls from throughout the ages found NOT to be in the book of life, at the white throne judgement, at the end of the Millennium. The lake of fire and second death are also reserved for those deceived during the Tribulation who took the mark of the beast and worshipped him and his image.

 The evil dead are resurrected to be judged by Christ for their evil works and for their rejection of Him who offered himself for their salvation and forgiveness of their sins. As a result of their sins and judgment, they are cast into the lake of fire that represents a second death (the first death being physical body death and souls/spirits being in Hell). The evil dead are resurrected into bodies and cast into the lake of fire to be severely tormented, having no rest day or night, and are absent from a loving God and their Savior who offered himself for them.

THE GREAT IRONY IS THAT THESE PEOPLE RECEIVED EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANTED. THEY REFUSED CHRIST AND WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM, THEY WANTED TO EXIST IN ETERNITY WITHOUT COMMUNION WITH GOD AND CHRIST, ON THEIR OWN TERMS. THEY LITERALLY RECEIVED WHAT THEY ASKED FOR. THE STENCH OF THEIR PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL TORMENT RISES UP IN SMOKE, FOR ETERNITY.

God made both man and angels as eternal beings, hence they will exist forever in one state or another. Which state will any of us choose to exist in? The choice is up to us, and God grants us the freedom to make that choice for ourselves. For better or worse, we have no one to blame (certainly not God) except ourselves for whatever choices we make on earth.

MOST PEOPLE DON’T REALISE THIS UNTILL IT’S TOO LATE: STANDING AT THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST
